Sermon: A Formula for Defeating Anxiety

05/25/2026

A Florida church is reporting a historic day after 2,552 people stepped into the Atlantic Ocean to be baptized and publicly declare their faith in Jesus Christ. The stunning turnout is yet another sign of spiritual awakening in America as thousands are born again and baptized in event after event from coast to coast.

“The Effectiveness of the Blood of Jesus”

Will you pray for us? On the back of our bulletin each week, we have a list under the heading, “Metrics of Congregational Health.” Here are the things we believe will show that the church has kick started into health:
52 salvations
20 baptisms
20 sanctified
200 attendance
75 in holiness small groups
50 Godly, developing leaders
2 missionaries supported at $1000 annually
$2500 weekly tithes and offerings
1 full time pastor
1 couple married.
This is our ”fight” verse: For God is working in West Side, giving West Side the desire and the power to do what pleases him. Philippians 2:13 NLT

Will you pray for these and especially for our Bible Dramatic presentation with Rev. Hughes for this Sunday? I have 4 already this week who have committed to pray these every single day this week. Can we count on you, too?

PRAYER CIRCLE. Every 3rd Sunday, the whole congregation makes a big circle around the perimeter of the sanctuary. We pray over upcoming events. We praise the Lord for salvations and answers to prayer. We pray for the sick. We pray for our family members. We have a great time! Here’s how we do it: An announcement or prayer request or praise is shared by anyone in the circle. The prayer leader leads us in a phrase out loud: ”Lord, hear our prayer.” Or, “Praise the Lord.” At some points, we give God a round of applause! Sometimes, tears are shed. At other requests, someone will off up an extemporaneous prayer for the need. I love our prayer time. In a sense, it solves a problem of a common held practice in prayer times: A lot of prayer requests are offered, and most of them are related to physical health needs. At the end, a prayer is offered up, rather short, that does not specifically address all of the prayer requests given. How many people are actually taking these requests home and praying for them? Furthermore, the Great Commission heart of God is not reflected in the prayer time. In our prayer time, we ask that even as the requests are being spoken, that we are praying even as they are spoken. There is worship music playing quietly in the background. While fellowship is part of it, these dynamics cause our prayer time to be really all prayer. If you don’t have a home church, come join us. We love you and we are committed to the work of praying for you and fulfilling the Great Commission. Is it time to change how you do prayer time at your church? Start this week!
