Restoration
One of my favorite passages is Isaiah 61: 1-6a. This passage speaks of the restoration and renewal of communities, a theme that resonates deeply with our current efforts.
We have seen an outpouring of churches, companies, and individuals coming to Western North Carolina to "rebuild the ancient ruins; they will restore the former devastations; they will renew the ruined cities." They are coming from all over to lend a hand and bring hope, healing, and restoration.
I spoke to a lady who had contacted someone who knew me today, and we talked for about 20 minutes. The water had come in, and she had teams go in and remove the sheetrock, insulation, and flooring. The insurance company said she was not covered for flooding and would not receive any funds for restoration. She is in her sixties, and her husband is older, and an act of nature destroyed everything they had. This disaster is a stark reminder of many's harsh realities in the aftermath of devastation. We will visit on Tuesday to talk with her and see about the possibilities of our being able to help her.
Many people must realize that insurance companies will not compensate for many destroyed or damaged houses. They did not have flood insurance and were not in a known floodplain.
It's support is crucial to understand that your funding, your time as volunteers, and your donations are the lifeblood of this restoration process. Your contributions can make a significant difference and bring hope to those who have lost everything.
Find an organization/church/business to give to help redeem as many from this tragedy as possible.
Isaiah 61:4-6a
4 They will rebuild the ancient ruins;
they will restore the former devastations;
they will renew the ruined cities,
the devastations of many generations.
5 Strangers will stand and feed your flocks,
and foreigners will be your plowmen and vinedressers.
6 But you will be called the LORD's priests;
they will speak of you as ministers of our God;
