***** PLEASE READ *****

Unfortunately due to the approach of Irma, the FCA event for Sunday evening has been cancelled. However, do not dismay, we will plan instead, to have regular youth at our normal time (4-6 PM on Sunday afternoon) at the church! The program for Harbor Youth will be "Getting to know our new Youth Leader: Audrey Crocker"!

Activities will include an Ice Cream Sunday bar; games; Youth devotional; introduction of Audrey; a little Q&A, and perhaps (if we show her some love), she will perform something for us!

HS Youth Leadership, please plan to be at church at 3:30 PM (vs. the previously scheduled 4:30 time) for a meeting.

We will keep an eye on the weather, and any determinations to change these plans will be made Sunday around noon.

Don’t forget we have moved to Youth Snack. There are still some slots available, for which to volunteer, that I have noted below.

Open dates are: September 24th (with the Lewters), October 1st (with the Wilkinsons), or December 10th (with the Atkinsons). Let me know if you can help with any of these dates. If they don’t work for you, please consider signing up next semester . I will be sending reminders on Thursday to those providing snack. Please try to arrange any changes ahead of your date and let me know. Also, we have peanut allergies in our Youth, so please refrain from snacks that contain peanuts.

Encourage your friends to join you at Harbor on Sunday! You won’t want to miss it!

Continue to pray for those in TX and all those in the path of Irma.

Any questions, don't hesitate to call me:

School is about to start for some of our youth, but we’ve still got a little summer left!!!

 This Thursday (August 3rd) is our last high school Bible Study at the Caldwells' house from 11:00 to 2:00... PLEASE note the time change! She will order pizza for everyone, so if you don't want that, you can bring a lunch. Also, the youth are welcome to swim and hang out after the study until 2:00 PM.

 Our Interim Youth Director has declared Sunday, August 6th, from 4:00 to 6:00, a "Decorate the Youth Room Party"! Woo hoo! She is asking for any parent volunteers with a gift for decorating to come and assist. We are also going to clean out those nasty cabinets and get the room really ready for a GREAT Fall program coming up. We will need youth to come as well to do the hauling of trash to the foyer... We are going to try and paint a mural, decorate walls, and move furniture around. If you have anything from home that you think might be fun in a nautical theme, like any rugs or things you don't need bring it and we can see if it would look good. We are keeping with our theme "Harbor" so we are thinking peaceful water, harbors, lighthouses, palm trees, lights, nets, anything that reminds us of a peaceful beach would be terrific!

If you are a parent that might be interested in a mural, let us know in the next day or two. We have asked Cecile Morrison to help us with this mural, but it would be great to have many heads and gifted hands if you are interested. We will just need to do a little planning beforehand so we can bring paint and supplies needed on Sunday night! This should be fun!

 The official youth kick-off will be the following Sunday, August 13th (promotion Sunday – so get ready to welcome the incoming 6th graders) from 6:00 to 8:00. Below is the schedule for the 13th:
5:15 - Youth Leadership Team Meeting (This includes the youth leadership - 11th and 12th graders, and adult leaders as well).
6:00 - Parent meeting (Dinner Sign-Up, Info Gathering & Preview of the Fall plans).
6:00 - 8:00 - Youth program - Dinner Provided

We look forward to seeing you soon!!!

Don't forget - Parenting meeting and youth Wednesday 6:30 pm! You won't want to miss it!

We have a very busy week this week in youth, as we wind down our summer activities! Please be sure to share this information with them!

 Tuesday (July 18th) we will have the Middle School Bible Study at the Bowling Alley from 1:00 to 3:00. We only have two hours, so please be on time, with socks for bowling and money for snacks!

 Wednesday (July 19th) from 6:30 to 8:00 PM (please note the time change as it was mis-printed in the bulletin this week), there will be a simultaneous youth and parent program. Megan Lewter will begin the youth program with a 10 minute question/answer and information session on Autism for the youth. She hopes to answer any questions they may have! I have also asked her to address the parents for about 10 minutes as well. The youth are asked to bring clothes that can get wet and a beach towel! I believe Steve mentioned something about water volleyball in the mix for the program! Please encourage your youth to bring a friend!

The parent program will be in the Homebuilder's Sunday School room. We encourage you to respond to this email if you plan to attend, so that we can make sure we have enough space. We will be covering the topic of "Parenting in the Age of Social Media", and getting a preview of the new focus for the youth program for the Fall! Please bring any friends that have a teenager, especially any who are looking for a great Christian program for their teens. We are super excited about what is coming up in the Fall!

Also, Hannah Bentley, our Missions Team Leader for the youth, has asked that all youth/parents bring items for the Baldwin County School Uniform Drive. We are collecting solid color polo shirts, khaki pants, belts, NEW underwear and socks. The collection will last from Wednesday through Sunday and Hannah will drop them off for us! This is a terrific start for our new missions focus for the year.

 Thursday (July 20th) at noon, we will resume the High School Bible Study! Because of the projected heat index for Thursday we will move the Bible Study from Stephanie’s dock to the church. But first we will meet for lunch at Barberitos at 12:00!

 Sunday (July 23rd) from 2:00 to 4:00, we will have a pool party at the Baugh's home! (236 Gordon Highway SW, Milledgeville). This event is for all youth. Modest swim suits and a towel please!

06/20/2017

Calling All Youth - We will be having Movie Night at the Millers on June 28th at 6 PM. Bring a snack to share. Their address is 106 Honeysuckle Lane NE (Milledgeville).

Also, our interim youth director (the wonderful Rev. Stephanie Caldwell) is starting a High School Bible Study. The first meeting will be June 29th from 10:30 AM-1 PM (location to be determined, but lunch will follow).

Reminder, if you are not getting emails regarding youth activities, please send Barb ([email protected]) your email address and a mobile number that receives Text messages. We want to keep everyone informed. As we go into the next year we want to get as many people set up through Remind App as possible so that we have one communication channel.

Those youth participating in ROL, make sure you are receiving emails and you have turned in all your information and $$ 😁

Youth - are you out there???? We're back at it this week. Hope you had a great Holy Week and Easter with your families.

We'll be having Youth on Wednesday at 5:45PM and then again on Sunday from 6-8PM. We've got a great group of leaders that are here to continue the Harbor program. Come on out and see what we have in store.

Also, please remember (THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT), ROL - July 5th through 9th - deposits ($50) are due this Wednesday (THAT IS TOMORROW PEOPLE). Slots can't be guaranteed after this week. If you have a question, or concern, please reach out to Stephanie Caldwell or Barb Rion ASAP.

Lastly, those participating in the Youth Baked Good Auction (Wednesday April 26th), need to provide me a description of what they are making and have it to the church no later than 5PM for display. We hope that anyone trying to cut down on their summer activity expenses will take advantage of this opportunity. Dollar for Dollar proceeds will go into your 'account' to offset expenses for the various camps and other activities this summer!!!

YOUTH - If you have not handed in your deposit or talked to me (Barb Rion) about going to BigStuf and you want to go, I need to know ASAP! We are at a 'Go/No Go' point.
