Dedication of the Good Shepherd Window and the Chapel of the Good Shepherd at Grace Church

On October 11, 2026 Grace Church Millbrook celebrated the dedication of its Good Shepherd window, made possible through the generosity of Margaret Kasin, whose funding supported this special project. The dedication recognizes both the spiritual significance of the window and Margaret’s personal story of her Godfather, Dennis Gerard (Brother Gerard) who joined the Brothers of the Good Shepherd order and devoted his life to the homeless, poor, sick, and people with addictions. Through her generosity, this beautiful addition helps enrich Grace Church’s worship space and serves as a lasting expression of faith and commitment to the parish community.

This Sunday, October 4th, was the feast day of St Francis of Assisi (1181-1226), beloved for his simplicity of life, care for the poor and blessing of animals. In 1979, Pope John Paul II named him the patron saint of ecology. In 2015, Pope Francis entitled his encyclical on our care for earth, Laudato Si’—Praise to you—from St Francis’ Canticle of the Sun. In celebration of this feast day Dr. Joshua Ginsberg of Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies joined Grace Church for the homily followed by the Blessing of the Animals, which took place outdoors after the service.
