The annual Adopt-A-Child Christmas Program is designed to provide a special Christmas gift for more than 400 children in Adair County, ages newborn to 16, who otherwise might not receive a gift. Sign-ups for Adopt-A-Child begin on October 1, 2025, and last until December 16, 2025, at the Community Action Partnership of Northeast Missouri (CAPNEMO) at 215 S. Elson St. Registration can be done Monday to Thursday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, or by calling 660.665.9855 between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Thursday. Only the child’s legal guardian may apply. Please provide proof of guardianship, SNAP benefits, and names and ages of children in the household (can be obtained through the Adair County Family Services Office in Kirksville).

Adopt-A-Child is sponsored by the Kirksville Firefighters Local 2952, 93.7 FM KTUF/KIRX/KRXL, and CAPNEMO. For more information, contact Teresa at the Kirksville Fire Department at 660.665.3734.

It’s time for a SHOUT-OUT to the La Plata Dollar General store. Last Friday they donated over 1000 pounds of household supplies and personal care items. Laundry supplies, trash bags, paper plates, antibacterial wipes, and more.
With this abundance, we have set up a small PAC “drugstore”, and our neighbors are having the opportunity to choose the items that they are most in need of. Thank you Dollar General for giving us this opportunity to meet additional basic needs for our community members.
