31 visitors today at our food sharing tables. We got lots of compliments on the taste and freshness of our cabbage, which, sadly, has now run out. But the zucchini and carrots are coming on strong!

We survived a downpour this morning to harvest 154 pounds of produce including cabbage (90 pounds), beets, lettuce, snap peas, rhubarb, kale and Swiss chard. Looking very forward to picking our first zucchini next week! Our YTD total is 1,101 pounds - pretty good for this time of year.

The rain didn't stop our 21 friends at The Vintage from stopping by and getting fresh produce and food pantry items. Next week should be even better with the sun!

Why are we smiling? We harvested our first cabbage and beets, that's why! What a beautiful spring it's been. We brought in 265 pounds of produce today for a YTD total of 950 pounds - almost double the poundage from last year at this time. 150 pounds of cabbage alone were sent to food sharing and the Snohomish Food Bank.

The food sharing numbers are steadily increasing with 35 visitors this morning. Folks liked being able to come inside the Fellowship Hall and get out of the heat.

A huge thank you to Rick and Tami for constructing a beautiful, durable produce table and staging bench for our garden! Thanks also to Mike, who stayed over to help with the assembly and set-up. The table and staging bench will last for many years to come and help streamline our work. We've very grateful for these nice additions to the garden!

Remember when the preschoolers came to plant bean seeds on May 12? Quite honestly, I didn't think the beans would germinate as it turned cold and wet the very next day. But guess what - the beans did come up and are thriving! Nice job, preschoolers!!

This morning we braved the "May Gray" and drizzle to bring in the harvest, but it was a good day in the garden. We harvested 109 pounds of greens, snap peas and rhubarb to bring our YTD total to almost 700 pounds (240 pounds more than last year at this time). Can you believe that we've picked 300 pounds of lettuce so far this year? There's more to come, too!

We set up the food sharing tables indoors today because the rain began in earnest right around 9:30-10:00 a.m. 15 visitors trickled in over the course of an hour to collect produce and food pantry items. Most touching were the comments we received regarding how much they appreciate the fresh produce in these times of high prices. One of our regulars even blew us a kiss as a thank you!
