“What are the odds?” - literally everyone!
August 8, 2025

Guess what? Jacob started the tradition of a travel day blog and so we will keep it alive! WE MADE IT! We just touched ground here in Seattle and we are highly anticipating seeing everyone!

This morning we woke up and everyone was TIRED, our room didn’t even get out of bed until 5 minutes before breakfast! We headed down for our last day of breakfast but this time mashed potatoes were involved! lol!
Then we went to enjoy our last bit of free time, quickly buying all of our last minute needs and playing some cards!
Then our kids went up to pack up their rooms and if you were in my room that was CHAOS!
It took our room a whole hour to pack up but hopefully we made it with everything! Then we had to check out😭
We loaded up the buses and headed on our way, after reading your amazing comments and one last bus ride blog, Jason shared some trip awards! This years MVP was Ellie moody, who always put our eyes on mission!
Once we arrived at the airport we said one last goodbye to Pastors Luis and Lupita!
1 hour later we got all our bags checked but not before we moved 10 pounds of Savannahs suitcase because it was too heavy!
Then we made our way through security and headed to the gate! And yes, our kids lost what are the odds and had to hold hands all the way to food! The kids were hungry and grabbed some lunch before hopping on the plane!
3h 40min later we made it back onto US soil in San Francisco and our pastors got a good nap in on our flight back!
With only 2 hours to get off, go through customs grab our bags and recheck them we ran! But luckily, we had time to get the kids fed for dinner!
But those 2 hours flew by quickly and before we knew it we were boarding another plane to you!
Judah, Grace, Danny, Ace, Liam, Danny, Stephen, Tanner, Josh, Jadyn, and Jack got ALLL THE LEG ROOM in the emergency exit, and luckily for everyone on the plane, no emergencies occurred!
After a sleepy and finally quiet 2 hour plane ride, We’ve finally touched ground in Seattle and we cannot wait to see you guys soon!
See you next year🫶🥳🎉

“Get it girl” - Judah August 7, 2025

LAST FULL DAY! And honestly I am feeling very emotional (or maybe I’m just tired) for those of you who have been following along with us, gracias, can you believe we have finished our last day?
After a late night playing in the thunderstorms our students were tired this morning!
We woke up and got ready for an amazing breakfast had all the yummy things we’ve been telling you about this week!
Our students were on a slow timer because at 8:58 (2 minutes before the bus arrives) only 8 of 31 were anywhere to be found! BUT WE MADE IT!
We headed in for an amazing morning of worship with Ben and our special puppy leading! After lots of fun songs, we got a to hear a special message from Ben this time! Then the kids headed out for craft time where they made megaphones!
After crafts, the kiddos went around giving bracelets and signing shirts, it was precious and pretty emotional!
Then, we had a massive water fight with water balloons and buckets of water! The kids had so so much, we could barely make it out of the church with buckets before the kids grabbed all the balloons and they even took buckets of water and dumped them on the students heads! Let’s just say Danny Batt had to endure a water balloon punishment and also, p.s. Nash and Rachel, I’m gonna need your help with some payback!
Afterwards we had some very delicious stew and rice made by none other than the mamas! today’s dishes were disposable so no dish duty today but still lots of cleaning!
After lunch we got to WORK! we split up and half the team took down the tent while the other half got to work scrubbing down every table and chair!
During tent takedown we had the infamous c**a broom, sweeping off all the p**p and dirt before mopping! Your kids were amazing and Judah even gave us a great “get it girl”!
Once we cleaned everything up we had to do the worst part, GOODBYE, and it was very emotional! Stephen even gave his necklace away and his new friend loved and cried! Very special! Tears were shed, hugs were shared, and lots of promises to be back next year were made!
After a very sleepy bus ride back, we did some quick shopping for MORE souvenirs before dinner which was tortilla soup and tacos with horchata! And if you were crazy like Tanner, a whole pepper, he was literally crying!
After dinner, we had our final service… so sad! Zoe and Jason let us one more time and we had a powerful moment singing Jesus at the center!
Afterwards, Josh brought a solid word on 1 Timothy 4, encouraging the kids to put their hope in Jesus!
Pastor Jason encouraged all the kids to write down how God moved in their lives this week so that they could remember the hope they gained! It was special!
We are now prepping for what I think will be a CRAZY NIGHT full of games, swimming, good conversations and hopefully sleep!
Families, we cannot wait to see you tomorrow! Pray for safe travels! LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU! ee

“What’s cookin good lookin? - Hailey
August 6, 2025

today was another very special day! We had a little bit of a later start to the morning! Except the 2 alarms that Danny forgot she had set at 5:10am, don’t worry, I turned them off for her😬😂
After our yummy breakfast, which I’m sure you know the menu for by now, we jumped on the bus! When we arrived we ran in to do not cinco, not seis but siete worship songs and it was AMAZING! We even had a very special guest!
After that, we heard a quick message and Jason pretended to be Jesus and be nailed to the cross! So…. That was fun!
After the message the kiddos headed outside for a craft and they LOVED IT (shoutout Hailey)! They made mobiles that had the words to the verse 1 John 4:19!
After craft we got into construction and games! Today’s construction consisted of stucco and moving very heavy door panes!
Carter, Kane, Anna and Emma organized an entire closet and moved some heavy stuff as well! They labeled everything in Spanish and it looks amazing! We love our type A personalities and teachers!
Our students played lots more games and Jackson planted a tree before we had some music stylings by the kiddos via banging on the tables during lunch!
Today we had quesadillas and beans which were amazing and Ace said “the food tastes so good because the mamas pray over it so hard”! And that’s SO TRUE!
Also during lunch time Becca told us that she was drinking water for the first time: Laurie I think have the challenge for day 5: DRINK WATER!
After lunch we got ready for some amazing game time! Hailey got her butt kicked in volleyball and kickball (just kidding, idk but I’m gonna say it anyways). Hailey and all the students taught the GC Mexico Teens how to say “what’s cookin good lookin” in English and told them it would help them pick up more gringos😎
One of the students want to give a shoutout to Tanner for trying so hard on his Spanish and communicating with the kids so well!
And a huge shoutout to our translator of the day Mayah!
After an amazing day at the church, we swept and mopped and jumped on the bus!
The bus was very quiet, I can tell our kiddos are wiped!
Once we got back we went out to do something souvenir shopping! Parents be prepared for all the gifts your kids bought you😉
Then we headed back for dinner which lasagna, bread, salad, and of course rice! because nothing pairs better with lasagna!
After dinner we headed into service, hearing testimonies from the day, heard some amazing worship from two and only Zoe and Jason, then I (jadyn) had the privilege of sharing with the kids a message from Luke 8 and how we must lay down our pride and desires to serve Jesus!
Small group times headed to the beach, where we saw a rat, then promptly headed back to the hotel!
We are prepping for a night of swimming, hanging out, good conversations, and probably a sweet treat!
We have mixed emotions about our last full day tomorrow! Be praying for us, we love you and we miss you! In the wise words of Pastor Jason PEACE✌🏼

edit - we were blessed with a rainstorm tonight and the kids jumped in the pool and started throwing Hailey dirty socks around! Crazy, but fun!

“GOOOOOD MORRRRNINGG MEXICO” - Emily M Bocskay (we miss you) - August 5, 2025

why did I name it this today, well, we woke up with puerto Vallarta this morning! an early start to the day, we met up at 5:30am for a beautiful sunrise hike! After what felt like 300 stairs, we climbed up to the lookout point and watched the sunrise and took some beautiful pictures! Braelyn, Jack, and Marika even met a cat and named it flea bag and then continued to pray for the cat! Trent Henry, we want you to know that Grace made it through with no asthma attack, and Michael Moody, we made sure that Ellie did not fall down the hill as she looked at me and said “I’m pretty sure my legs are just noodles right now” BUT WE MADE IT!
after heading back and quickly getting ready, we headed down to breakfast for our daily chilaquiles, eggs and ham, pancakes, and fresh fruit!
then we hopped on the bus and were on our merry way, except for half of our students who felt a little unwell (parents please tell your kids how much they need water!)
when we arrived we had the BEST TIME in worship, singing lots of songs with Damaris and the GC Mexico fam!
All of our kiddos were so energetic and killed it at worship! Once that ended we heard a quick message then came outside for craft time! We made shepherd staffs with the kids and they had some amazing coloring skills and they even decorated our students name tags!
Around noon we had chicken and rice, which was AMAZING! Then quickly cleaned up so we could head back outside to play catch, make bracelets, and shoot off our dinosaur rocket launcher!
While not hanging out with the teens our students killed it at the construction! They applied stucco and lifted up buckets of gravel and our students are STRONG and TOUGH!
after a long day at the church we had lots of naps on the bus before we arrived back for an eventful night on the town!
All the students took their time to get ready and then headed out for Mexican food at Pepe’s, while some of our other students were hyped for ITALIAN IN MEXICO AGAIN!
Dinner at Pepe’s was eventful! Judah and Carter decided that dumping four spoonfuls of spicy green salsa on one taco was a really good idea and Carter through tears said “this salsa is too spicy for my white skin”! Pictured you’ll find Quincy’s bright red sunburn that she said her mom will not be happy about! (sorry mom)!
We got some light rain drops on our way back from dinner and then headed back for service!
Cam, Grace and Danny walked in 5 minutes late because they had to finish their photo shoot but we forgive them and the photos were probably fire!
Again, Zoe and Jason led us in some amazing worship time then Pastor Tanner led us through an inspiring devotional on Luke 22; teaching us how to not be NPC’s: non - participating Christians (some of you will get this; others won’t, that’s ok)
After service we broke into small groups but not before looking at the STUNNING sunset God gifted us with today!
We are hyped for a night of games, laughs, conversations, and let’s be honest, probably swimming and McDonald’s!
The students are amazing and they miss you guys, even if they only text back once a day! God is working through these students to reach GC Mexico! Excited for what tomorrow has in store!

“I had to triple check and make sure that I didn’t have any p**p on me” - Jackson
August 4, 2025

FIRST DAY OF VBS! God is on the move here in Mexico!! Everyone must have been really sleepy from setting up the tent because this time we got to sleep in until 7:00am before I heard an alarm. WOOHOO! We headed downstairs for breakfast where there were chilaquiles, eggs and ham, pancakes, and fresh fruit! Then we packed up and got hyped for VBS day 1! All of our students were SO EXCITED!
We got off the bus and ran in for worship! Every student danced their hearts out and Reilyn, Jack, and Grace led us from stage with Damaris and our other friends!
Then we went outside to do some crafts! The kids got to write their name tags and then work a mirror where they wrote “Dios me hizo especial” (God made me special) and the things about them that are special!
After crafts the kids were ready for games! Big shoutout to Hailey for prepping A TON of games for the kids to play! Some of our students played games with the kids while the others applied stucco! After time playing we served the kids their meal, spaghetti, and then we got to enjoy our meal as well! Grace loved our meal SO MUCH that she asked for the recipe and Pastor Lupita blessed us with some recipe books! THANK YOU!
Reilyn, Danny, Ellie, Carter, Becca, and Judah killed it doing the dishes before we headed back out to play badminton, catch, bracelets, and playground time before the day ended! But not before KING ACE literally washed the feet of one the ninas after she stepped in p**p! Luckily, we had Jackson to scoop up the p**p even though he thought he was going to throw up the whole time! We cannot wait for more!
We had a sleepy bus trip back but once we arrived, life arrived back into the students, unless you were Sydney. We sent groups out to the supermarket while some stayed back and swam and played cards! Overall a chill but fun afternoon after an exciting first day of VBS!
Dinner tonight was fajitas with beans, rice, and salad with yummy hibiscus juice!
After dinner our students gathered for another great worship set with Zoe and Jason and a solid word from Pastor Josh covering John 15 and how we can abide in Jesus!
After breaking off into small groups, Grace (*who gave me permission to say this*) shared that God was removing her phone to help her see him more clearly because, I quote “I just lose my spark when I go onto my fyp and it sucks” LOL.
But seriously; God has been working in our students in amazing ways and we are just beginning!
Now time for some swimming, rest time, and the spocha mcflurry drop at mcdonalds before VBS day 2! We love and miss our GC and CC fam! Keep praying!

“The best gift of all” - Pastor Jason August 3, 2025

DAY 2!!! What a day! After a stressful travel day yesterday our students got to sleep in and catch up on some rest, unless you were me or any other girl leader that heard 4 alarms go off before 6:45am! We got ready then headed down to a delicious breakfast and we only heard Grace talk about how excited she was to eat Chilaquiles like 30 times before arriving to breakfast. There was an amazing omelette bar, Chilaquiles, fresh fruit, COFFEE and even a bowl of shrimp (plantains - iykyk). Once we finished up eating, we got on our bus and read the blog and your amazing comments from the night before (your kids weren’t too embarassed, let’s try harder this time?)
Upon arriving at Gold Creek Mexico, the kids came running over shouting “THE AMERICANS ARE HERE” and we were greeted with signs saying “Welcome Home”.
Service was powerful as we sang Goodness of God and This is Amazing Grace in Spanish then jumped into the new series Full Force Faith with Gold Creek! (Big shoutout to Damaris for translating)
After service, in tradition, we took pictures by the tree in our Sunday best then quickly changed and got to work!
ALL OF OUR KIDS WERE AMAZING, but huge shoutouts to Savannah for scooping p**p and Carter for being yelled at a million times to bring the drill over NOW!
Once the tent was set up we headed in and enjoyed sopes as a team before packing up and jumping on to the bus.
After a quick ride back, our kids were ready to shop!
We split into groups and headed out. After walking ALL THE WAY to the big market, sweet Stephen was gifted with the best surprise of all, A TON OF BIRD P**P in his hair and on his shirt, but he was a TROOPER and stayed with the group until we headed back!
After free time we gathered together for dinner, which consisted of; chicken and cheese with mashed potatoes, rice, bread, and delicious lemonade!
Once dinner ended we set up the room for service where Zoe and Jason lead us in two songs of worship and Pastor Jason lead us in a word on Isaiah 6, sharing about how God is calling us and sending us out this week and even as we head home. Afterwards, we broke into small groups, preparing our hearts for the mission God has called us on this week and getting ready to accept all the opportunities we have to serve God.
We were gifted with a quick rainstorm and some great pool time before the end of night 2! Can’t wait to get started on VBS tomorrow! God has some amazing things in store!

“because there was no room for them in the inn” Luke 2:7 - August 2nd, 2025

This morning we arrived at SeaTac at an early 4:30am with big smiles and an energy that can only come from the beginning of a mission trip! After we all gathered and made our way downstairs to group check in, we had some amazing Seattle only volunteers help us get our bags checked. (Big shoutout to our amazing friends Jacob and Emily M Bocskay for all the help.) Then we headed to security, waved goodbye to our friends and family and made our way through.
Our time in the airport was filled with lots of coffee and trips to qdoba for breakfast. After we boarded our 8 am flight, you will see that there was a lot of card games, books, sleep and even more sleeping selfies (the pastors were very tired).
4h 50min we arrived in beautiful Puerto Vallarta and we were greeted by Pastors Luis and Lupita. But not before Pastor Jason misplaced a suitcase and was held back by customs (luckily we found the suitcase, it was with a leader). Then we boarded our amazing bus and headed over to Hotel Rosita.
And after thinking we had escaped the travel day without any mishaps, we went to check in…
Pastor Jason went to check into our rooms and they said there “was no room at the inn”. But after 2 hours of our amazing students waiting patiently and Pastor Jason and Hailey rolling with the punches, we settled into our rooms at Hotel Rosita and Casa Carmel (our very own villa style hotel that is attached to our other hotel!)
Due to our crazy day we dropped our bags and went on the town for dinner. Some kids chose Burrito Beach, others Pepe’s, and some coming alllll the way to Mexico to enjoy Italian food at La Dolce Vita Malecon.
After a long, tiring, and adventure filled day our students came back to the hotel and enjoyed a beautiful sunset, swimming, card games, and amazing conversations to rest before a fun day of church and tent set up!
Make sure you follow along this week to see some funny pictures and hear what God is doing in the lives of our students!

07/27/2024

We normally don’t do a blog post on our travel day back home, but I felt like today we need it! We are currently on our flight into Seattle, about 20 minutes from landing, and boy was it a good day. We started this morning with a simple breakfast, which I’m sure you know the menu by now! We delayed our start to breakfast a little bit so students could sleep in, get some rest after yesterday, and enjoy their mornings. We weren’t loading on to the bus until 12 PM, so students had time to shop and pack and finish any last minute runs they needed to make. We saw lots of last minute souvenirs, last minute Starbucks runs for the cheesecake (if you know, you know!), and just seeing the town one more time before leaving. We loaded on to the bus, and got started right away with the rules for the airport and then the blog! It was a joy to be able to read all of your comments left on this last day of the posts; I cannot tell you how much they meant to students. I had multiple students throughout this week talk about how the blog and the comments were such a highlight to their days.
After the blog post, Nataleigh got on the mic and gave away our student awards! Leaders met to discuss what we thought each student should get this year, and we think they’re all very fitting! Congratulations to Malia for being our MVP this year, because none of saw her sit or rest or just be sitting still for any extended periods of time! She was truly the MVP this year! It was a mad dash to get the awards to everyone because the airport ride was shorter than we remembered! Blake was running through handing awards and taking photos, and Nataleigh was doing her best to honor each award and also get through all of them. It was such a fun way to end our week!
Once we got to the airport, we unloaded our bags and headed inside. The Alaska counter wasn’t open, but we found out which lane was the one we would use, so we waited until we had the all clear to go in. Pastor Luis and Lupita met us at the airport to say their final goodbyes, which was so great because they even brought their niece and nephew with them to say goodbye again, too! It was great to have a few final moments with them before we started our check in process. Once the ticket agents were ready, we started the arduous process of checking in, which given the craziness, went pretty smoothly this year! We always have a different process of checking in, but the agents made it as easy as they could for us. Once the students and leaders were ready to go with their two boarding passes (yup! We got both tickets at the same time!), they headed to security. Security there is slightly different, because you don’t need to take any electronics out, and you just scan your own boarding pass to go through a gate, and then go through a metal detector! It’s a pretty easy process, and everyone made it through pretty quickly. Once we were on the other side, students and leaders got food, did some shopping, and hung out until it was time to board. The flight to LA was smooth, and we all played games, slept, kept the energy up, and enjoyed the 3 hours. Fun fact if you have a layover into LAX, you don’t need to fill out a customs form! They have facial recognition they use to verify your identity. We had a special moment with the agent that I went to with Becca, who was wearing a shirt that says “Jesus loves you”. He asked if she believed it, to which she said yes, and he said “me too. God bless”. It’s always so wonderful to have a little connection like that because of Jesus!
Once we got through customs, we rushed to get our bags from baggage claim, take them to the transfer drop off, and head back through security. This one took a little longer on this side of the states, but overall went pretty smoothly. After we got through, students and leaders again went to get food, smoothies, water, and just hang out. The biggest thing I know people were excited for was to use the restroom and be able to flush the toilet paper! Our plane boarded on our way to Seattle as smooth as could be, and has been quite the smooth ride. Most have been asleep, but some were playing cards, listening to music, just talking, or zoning out. The end of such a long week can be really draining, and I know that everyone is ready to be home and get some rest and relaxation.
I want to thank everyone for reading the blog, commenting encouragements and prayers, and for holding these students and leaders tightly in your prayers to have a hand of protection over everyone on this trip. This year felt special, and the students were definitely locking in and engaging in a way that I can only explain as the Spirit leading them. I am grateful for the memories made for everyone this year and can’t wait to see what next year brings already!
Thank you for following along; until next year, PV!

“He looks like a 5 year old took a 6 hour nap”

Today was another one for the books! What started out with some rain this morning at breakfast ended up being an incredibly sunny and hot day! We started with breakfast, which was another morning of flapjacks, chilaquiles, fruit, cereal boxes, eggs, and mushrooms with onions and cheese! Everyone got their fill, headed upstairs to change, and met our driver at the bus. Mike and I had to run to the store this morning to get more journals for today’s craft because we had so many more students than we expected! We hopped on the bus with our supplies, and headed to the church. We read through the blog comments that we had, and tried to hype everyone up for the day ahead! It was a first for a lot of us to have a morning of VBS and then have our clean up afterwards. Once we got to the church, we went right into worship with the kiddos, which lasted 55 minutes today! I think that’s a record set for longest worship time, and everyone kept asking for more! (Well, almost everyone. We had some ninos that wanted it to end because of how hot it was!) I was grateful to be able to be in there and seeing all of the students and kids giving it their all, dancing and jumping and yelling and perfecting the moves today! The students on the stage had gotten so hype that we were worried the stage was going to break!
Once worship ended, Damaris gave the message around sharing Gods word (which is where the journals came into play!) The kids came outside and colored their journals, giving lots of color to the plain brown outside! We quickly started to play games, and the kids were asking all of us for our names and phone numbers to keep in touch! It’s always so bittersweet to have it be our last day, and it was quite emotional to be seeing our students so invested in what was happening and doing everything they could to talk with them! These students remember us year after year, and it’s such a blessing to come back and see how much they have grown in just a year. Students pulled out their sharpies, let kids sign their shirts, and then the kids wanted us to sign theirs! We spent some time doing crafts, hanging out playing games, and giving our “autographs”. We served the kids their lunches, served the moms theirs, and then once everyone else was ready, we all sat down to eat together, which was a delicious stew with rice and tortillas! I know it seems weird to be eating hot food on such a hot day, but it definitely hit the spot!
One of the neighbors of the church introduced himself, and we found out he was from Canada and owned a drone and 3D video company! He graciously offered to get some photos and videos of our teams so that we could have that to remember our time with. After lunch, we went outside and got some photos and videos, which I have added to this post! We are so grateful for Myles and can’t wait to see what else he is able to do for our Mexico campus.
Once the photos were done, we quickly pivoted to our projects! Today was tent tear down, table and chair cleaning, and finishing the stucco and drywall upstairs! It was definitely a hot day, but our students powered through and hustled to get it done! We took our breaks, drank through probably four water tank bottles, and diminished our supply of liquid IVs. It took a couple of hours, but we were able to get the tent down, cleaned, and put away, while other students washed and dried every chair in the church! We took turns on who was outside on tent duty and who was in front on chair duty, so it seemed to go pretty quickly! Once we finished, Sergio (one of the dads at the church) had brought his horse over! Everyone who wanted got an opportunity to hop on and take a lap around the field. Everyone who got on had such a huge smile on their faces! We said our final goodbyes, exchanged instagrams and phone numbers, and got back on the bus. I saw a couple of tears being shed as we said goodbye, but also heard so many students say they wanted to come back next year! We know this trip is so impactful in so many ways, and the relationships formed are just one of the things we look forward to every year.
Once we got back on the bus, we read a couple of comments that were left later in the day, and everyone sat and relaxed from the long day we had. We got to the hotel, went upstairs and showered and slept, and came back down for dinner. Tonight was tortilla soup, potato tacos, beef tacos, and chicken and beef tacos! It was one of the best dinners we had all week. We parted ways before service, where Nataleigh and Zoe led us for our final night of worship. Mike jumped in to his message, which was all about a call to holiness. He spoke on how everything that has happened in the past has led us to this moment in time, and nothing was unintentional. He talked about how we preach about the good things that we as Christian’s can experience, but we don’t talk about the negative that can happen. It reminded us that sometimes in life, we will experience trials and tribulations, and both point to the glory of God. We ended the message with a song of worship, and then went to our rooms for discussions. God was showing off yet again tonight with the sunset, so we got lots of good photos of that!
We are spending time relaxing, resting, and preparing to head to the airport tomorrow. We are sad to be leaving PV, but ready to be back in Washington. We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the airport tomorrow night, and looking forward to a restful flight! Please pray for safe flights, ease through customs and the airports, and rest through it all. Buenos noches, and hasta luego, Puerto Vallarta!

“Gaining aura”
What an incredible day today! We started our morning a little slower; I think the heat and hard work are finally getting to us! We had a breakfast of flapjacks, cinnamon toast, a new entry of toast with beans and cheese, fruit, orange juice, and chilaquiles! Blake also discovered that there are multiple types of meat that they put out that we all miss, so we tried some new things today! After breakfast, we loaded on the bus where we had our favorite driver again, and made our way to the church. We read through the blog and comments, which brought a smile to so many faces today! Once we got to the church, worship started right away and we jumped in to sing and dance with the ninos. If you can believe it, worship lasted almost a whole HOUR today! It was encore after encore (with some encouragement from Damaris), and the kids were not wanting it to end! It was such a blast to start the morning right with. After worship, the students listened to a message from Damaris about God’s unconditional love, which led to our craft of making popsicle stick crosses! Students walked around with examples and all of the kiddos made really fun and interesting designs!
After the crafts, students started playing games with the kids, while other students went to the outside of the building to add more stucco, and others got to work planting trees! We had 80 trees in total to plant, which means each student got to plant one for themselves, which we can then come back and see growth year after year! This is meant to be a community area for the local neighborhood to come and sit and enjoy while their kids can run around and play in the shade. It is going to be such a sight to behold once they are fully grown around the property!
Every student worked hard, had their shirt sleeves rolled up, sweat drenching their clothes, and still wanted to do more! We know that we are coming up on our last day with the kids, and no one wanted that to end. We’re so thankful we get to spend more time with them tomorrow as we clean up and get ready to leave for the week, but it’s getting harder to leave as we build more connections with each kiddo. We spent some time after lunch cleaning and getting back to our projects, while Rachel and a couple other leaders were inside with the moms doing their crafts. We cleaned up, talked with the leaders and kiddos at the church, and made our way to the bus to go back to the hotel. it was dinner with a group outside of the hotel tonight, and everyone went to some pretty great places! Some went to Burrito Beach, others to random taco stands, and others to the restaurant where they make the guacamole right next to your table (if you know, you know!) We made our way back to the hotel at 7:30 for service, where Nataleigh and Zoe led us to start, and Pastor Jason brought the message! The title of his message was “Gaining aura”…. I’m joking, I’m joking, it was actually titled “All in”. He talked about his start with Gold Creek and how he began working with us, and then talked about what it means to be all in with God. He reminded us that we need to give up our own desires for that of Christ, that being all in is a journey and the best decision you can make. He challenged us to think about whether or not we are all in with Jesus, and told us to start with the baby steps to get our hearts there with God. Tonight was special because we planned to have water baptisms in the ocean for anyone that felt they wanted to make the public declaration of their faith to follow Jesus and go all in, so while Nataleigh and Zoe led us in the last song, students prayed and made the decision on if they wanted to make that declaration. We headed to the beach with two students having already told Pastor Mike that they wanted to be baptized, and EIGHT STUDENTS made their public declaration!! As you know at Gold Creek, baptisms are a huge celebration and we wanted to be as loud as we could celebrating with these students! The whole beach was watching as Pastor Mike, Pastor Jason, and even Pastor Nataleigh baptized these students! It was also incredible because the sunset was the prettiest one we have seen all weekend, and we know that God waited to show that off this week until we were all down there baptizing His children in His name. Way to go Cassie, Danny Batt AND Danny Bosch, Quincy, Kane, Diego, Malia, and Natalie! We love you!
After baptisms, students took a dive into the ocean before heading back to jump in the pool, take a shower, and even go to bed, but we have games happening in the lobby, lots of buzz and excitement, and some sleep ahead to prepare for tomorrow’s busy day.
Pictured in tonight’s photos are so many things: dinners, construction, fun happening throughout the day, and another win for Kane, which was catching a pufferfish! I have also added the videos of the baptisms to the comments, so make sure to go through and watch those!
We also know that some people have been worried about a couple of students that have been ill this week, but I wanted to let everyone know that everyone is still in good spirits! Carter has been feeling sick this week, but has been doing well with some medicine from Rachel and working on getting better! One of our leaders, Bryce, has also gotten sick and stayed at the hotel today. we are praying for a fast recovery and healing for both of them as they work through whatever it is that they have! if you would like to join us in praying for them, I know they would greatly appreciate it!
Okay, I know this one has been long, but there were so many updates for today. Our students would love prayer for rest, for joy tomorrow as we clean up and say goodbye, and for a Spirit filled day of worship and community with the church tomorrow.
