Pathways Church

Pathways Church Non-churchy people trying to walk in the path of Jesus. We meet Sundays @ 10am at Archbishop Murphy High School in Mill Creek, WA. http://www.findpathways.com

Dress casual, talk normal, come like you are. Pathways Church is people, not a place. A place makes no difference in a community. A place cannot express the eternal values of a Living God – people can. Where did we ever get the idea that a church is a place? In the pages of ancient Scripture, the church is always used in reference to people. The church is people who follow Jesus and represent the

transformational life that only comes through encountering a transcendent God. Pathways Church is a struggle, not a cakewalk, because life is a struggle – following Jesus is a struggle. Our temptation is to believe that life following Jesus eases all conflicts – that it gift-wraps life into a beautiful package with a nice bow on top. It’s tempting, but that simply represents living life with your eyes closed. The truth is that faith, in its very essence, implies risk, which is why…

Pathways Church is a journey, not a destination. Following Jesus is not static. It is not a one time decision that allows us to ignore or judge the world because we have a ticket punched for eternity. It is a song that never ends and a movement that never stops. There is difficulty along the way, but there is also incredible beauty as we embrace the image of God in which we were formed. We have all walked many paths in life. Your paths are different than mine, yet it is our desire that all of our paths lead to a place of grace and forgiveness found at the foot of a cross on a Middle Eastern countryside. There we are all equal – equally inadequate to earn God’s favor, equally imperfect, equally in need of the very grace and forgiveness Jesus gives. Pathways is about reflecting that grace to the world and for that reason, we worship One and love all.

Pauline Politics — Paul is in jail when writing the letter to the Philippian church, likely because he’s found himself in some trouble with the Roman authorities.
