Our mission focus this month is WHEAT, the West Haven Emergency Assistance Taskforce. West Haven has three times the number of children experiencing food insecurity than the boundary communities of Orange and Milford.

Tomorrow promises to be another ordinary Sunday in the church lectionary. Ordinary, so I learned, does not mean same-old, same-old. In fact, it comes from “ordinal,” as in first, second third, etc. Sunday outside of the seasons of Christmas and Easter.
And this much I can say: Our services at Woodmont United Church of Christ, are never same-old, same-old. There is always a lesson to take home; a smile to warm our hearts, and after the service, we sit down together to share food and fellowship.
It’s a great way to start the new week!

Like every year around this time, Woodmont United Church of Christ is collecting backpacks and filling them with school supplies. Deadline is Aug. 9. The backpacks will go to the Connecticut Alliance for Adoptive and Foster Children.
