MONTH OF SEPTEMBER 2022 HELPING HANDS’ PROJECT
SPONSOR A $5.50 MEALS ON WHEELS BLIZZARD BAG
FOR OUR HUNTERDON COUNTY NEIGHBORS

Meals on Wheels mission is to assist the homebound elderly and/or disabled residents of Hunterdon County, NJ to maintain their independence by enhancing their nutritional health, thereby avoiding unwanted institutionalization.

This program is designed to deliver a nutritionally balanced meal and an assurance check to the home-bound senior and/or disabled of Hunterdon County.

During the inclement weather, it is difficult for the drivers to deliver a healthy meal to our home-bound neighbors. Meals on Wheels created “Blizzard Bags” that contain a shelf safe nutritious meal that can be substituted for the delivered meal.

We are asking you to sponsor a “Blizzard Bag” for $5.50, if you are able. Any donation is greatly appreciated. Donations can be collected in the weekly collection baskets, dropped off in the mail slot at the Rectory or mailed to the office. Please put your donation in an envelope with the attention to “Blizzard Bags.” Our Goal this year is 150 bags ($825).

We are asking for monetary donations instead of food donations due to the very specific needs of the Blizzard Bags. Items distributed are of a precise size so that food does not go to waste. Everything is in easy to open containers so there is no need to use can openers. Meals on Wheels also can get the food in bulk and receive them at a discounted price.

Meals on Wheels has approximately 250 participants who are given 3 Blizzard Bags each. That’s a total of 750 bags at the cost of $4,125. That’s a big number! Meals on Wheels is truly grateful for any donations. A check has already been sent, but any funds collected over and above our goal will be sent to Meals on Wheels of Hunterdon.

Thank you for your consideration and generosity!
