Here are three things to remember today about the battle for your mind:
1. Not every thought deserves a place in your mind.
We don't have to entertain every fearful, negative, tempting, or discouraging thought that enters our minds. Scripture tells us to “take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5). A thought can knock at the door without being invited to stay.
2. What you continually put into your mind will eventually influence your heart.
Philippians 4:8 tells us to deliberately think about what is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. This not only helps our outlook, it helps our in-look. Guard your heart by guarding your mind.
3. You don't fight the battle for your mind alone.
Romans 12:2 reminds us that God transforms us by renewing our minds. This isn't simply positive thinking or trying harder. As we fill our minds with God's Word, pray, and turn our thoughts toward Christ, the Holy Spirit does a transforming work within us.
Your thoughts matter.
Guard them.
Fill them with God's truth.
