“And Abijah and his people slew them with a great slaughter: so there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men. Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied upon the LORD God of their fathers.”
‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭13‬:‭17‬-‭18‬ ‭

A great battle was taking place between the men of Judah and the children of Israel. The men of Judah had not lost their commitment to God, but stood firm in their obedience to Him. On the other hand, the children of Israel had forsaken God and His commandments. When the battle began, Judah was surrounded. They knew that God was their help and cried out for deliverance. God showed up and Israel was defeated, even though they were more than double in number. We serve a God who notices our faithfulness to Him. When trouble surrounds us, He will come to our aid. We must keep doing what is right because God is on our side.❤️
“I sought the LORD, and he heard me, And delivered me from all my fears.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭34‬:‭4‬ ‭KJV‬‬
They looked unto him, and were lightened: And their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, And saved him out of all his troubles.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭34‬:‭5‬-‭6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Have you ever stopped to think that every burden we face is due to a blessing?
It's true.
If you have dirty dishes in the sink, it means you had food to eat.
If you have a load of laundry to be washed, it means you have clothes to wear.
If your car needs repair, it means you have transportation and places to go.
If you fall and scrape your knees, it means you were walking around on legs.
If you're grieving the loss of a friend, it means you have loved and been loved.
If you have toys scattered across your floor, it means you have little ones to enjoy and to influence.

It's so easy to see only the burdens of life. We all have them. But we should never fail to remember and give thanks for the blessings.
It is the blessing that makes the burden bearable.

"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."
1 Thessalonians 5: 18

“Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭68‬:‭19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Sometimes, it is so easy in life to desire big blessings from God. While God at times blesses us with these, it is easy to overlook all the many gifts He gives us on a daily basis. And if we aren’t careful, we can develop an attitude of ungratefulness. This ungratefulness stems from only focusing on what we want instead of the things we already have. While God has so much more planned for all of us, I want to acknowledge all the wonderful gifts I have today. Being able to open my eyes this morning, food to eat, a cozy home, strength in my body to get me through another day, love of friends and family …these all seem like big blessings after all ❤️

“Behold, as the eyes of servants Look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; So our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, Until that he have mercy upon us.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭123‬:‭2‬ ‭

Where is your gaze fixed today? Is it on solving all of your problems? Is it frantically searching for a solution to the troubles you are facing? Everyone has their own set of problems and it is in our human nature to want to try to fix them. But what if today, we shifted our gaze up a little higher? To the One who has all power to handle our needs. As the servants in the verse above, they had their gaze on the right one, their master. They knew that he was their source of provision. When we fix our gaze on Jesus, it takes the weight off of our shoulders to fix everything and places hope in the only One who can❤️

In That Moment

Her worn, feeble hand bothered with the latch on the door. Just barely the strength to care if it was locked or not, finally managing to get it in place. She took one last step from her home not knowing if this would be her answer or not. For 12 years she has left this same door in hopes of returning with a new strength or even just a little relief. But only to return with no hope, more pain and less money. Yet here she was with the fear of it all on the forefront of her thoughts. Should I save what little strength I have? Should I just wait perhaps this is just some hype spoke of in town? No she said to herself! I know this is different, something about this man I’ve heard about, I must at least go see him. She wrapped her shawl over her thin shoulders and leaned on the wall as she walked. With all the strength she could muster she walked in faith toward the crowd. As she got closer she could hear His words of healing and peace. Were these things He spoke possible? Bumped and pushed along, she began to regret ever walking from her door. She held on until finally she had no more strength and she was knocked to the ground by the weight of those around her. She reached with her last hope, knowing if she could just touch the hem of this man’s garment she would be healed. And as the same feeble hand that had earlier fumbled with her door, glazed the boarder of the Master’s garment, a healing filled her body! All the hurt, confusion, dread and disease, washed away in a moment! She knelt trembling at His words but soon stood upon hearing “daughter thy faith hath made thee whole.” Twelve years of suffering was washed away in less time than it takes to blink. Here was just the beginning of where her story would be told for generations.
You may feel so alone in your battle. Be it in your body or your mind. You may feel left by the way or forgotten in the crowd. Your hurt seems pointless. Leaving thoughts of doubt in your heart. Be it one year, twelve or even thirty. It’s only natural to wonder why, or even question your faith. The hurt you feel seems so useless, why must I go through this? Why must this be the way? I’m sure this dear lady thought the same thing, many many times! Over 4,300 times she opened her eyes to a new day only to close her eyes still hurting. But the story didn’t stop there. Her faith on that one day changed history! Not only for her but for the thousands her story has spoken to! In dealing with hurt or even situations that battle our bodies, we must not question God’s faithfulness. He could have healed this lady the first day she was sick, His power is not lack! But we would have never heard about such great faith. You see sometimes it’s not about just you and me, sometimes it’s about the others who need your story, who need your strength, to see that it’s possible to come out of their situations. No where in the Bible does it say He won’t put more on us than we can handle, but it does say He will never leave us. When we are going through more than we can handle that’s when we need to just reach a tiny bit farther and touch his garment. He will never be out of our reach. And He will never let us bare it alone. He is already there. (Reposted)

Instead of thinking about today as the start of a new work week, we should consider this the start of a new opportunity week! Whatever stage of life you are in, whatever calling God has on you, you have abundant opportunities in his name.

You have the opportunity of:
*Tidying your home for your family
*Helping customers with a need
*Teaching students something new
*Taking care of a patient who is sick
*Comforting a friend who is grieving
*Encouraging a neighbor who is struggling
*Preparing your children good food
*Spending time with your grandchildren
*Holding the door open for a stranger
*Praying for a loved one

Your smile, your kind deed, your pat on the shoulder....these are some of the ways God is wanting to use you in this moment.
So don't see your tasks as burdens this week.
See them as opportunities to serve in Jesus' name!

"God’s gifts of grace come in many forms. Each of you has received a gift in order to serve others. You should use it faithfully."
1 Peter 4: 10

“Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all that are carried away captives, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem into Babylon; build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them; take ye wives, and begat sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters ; that they may be increased there, and not diminished. Jeremiah 29:4-6
For I know the thoughts I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not evil, to give you an “expected end”. Jeremiah 29:11.

Even though God allowed Jerusalem to be carried away captive, His ultimate goal was to give them an expected end. Eventually, they would be freed from their captivity, but until then, they were to keep on living and try to enjoy their dilemma the best they could. Sometimes in life, it is hard to accept the circumstances we face. But the best thing to do is try not to “wiggle” out of God’s plan, but to surrender to it. God knows exactly what He is doing. He sees your suffering. He is not blind to it. He could snap His finger and it could all disappear. But if He chooses not to at this moment, then we must try to “grow” in this season He has allowed. Make the “best” of it. Just as God delivered Jerusalem, your day will come too. While we accept our trial, we can also look to the future with hope. God said His thoughts for Jerusalem was good. We too can know that God is thinking about us during our dilemma. He has not forgotten you!!
“Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me. “Isaiah 49:15-16

Sometimes on our journey in life, it is hard to let God take the lead. We wake up each day with a plan to work out all of our problems. All this we do, leaning upon our own understanding. It reminds me of two friends in a hike. One has the map and has planned out every turn. The other is obliging and goes along with the one leading. I feel we do God that way sometimes. We tell Him which way is the best and sure enough He faithfully stays by our side. But what if we changed up things a bit and let Him lead? What if what you’re searching for is found in “letting go”? Letting Him be God. Letting Him handle the things you cannot. Who knows what beauty awaits around the next bend of your journey? With God, you will never be disappointed.💕
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬-‭6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

An old log lay rotten on the ground. It’s been here a while... three years maybe. It’s been here long enough that the leaves from other trees have begun to cover it up... the earth is reclaiming it. Yet it sets itself apart... for from its death comes new life. Vibrant life too... moss, vines and the Resurection Ferns have found life, in the death of this log.

So have we... found new life, that is. Not in a log, but in Christ... the Tree of Life. Through his death and Resurrection, we are saved from the eternal consequences of who we are.

“There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ...”
In Christ Alone

Just like this new Resurection Fern burst forth from the death of an old oak tree, you too can have new new life in the Resurection of Christ.

God bless you all. Love to you all.
Amen. (Reposted)

It is in our nature as humans to want to fix our own problems. We are survivors. But here lately, I have been realizing that I am pretty bad at it. So, I surrender. This means to relinquish control to Someone more capable of handling it. God is that Someone. Only He can fix your situation and make it better. So, surrender it to Him. And just as a child patiently waiting for his father to fix a toy, you let Jesus work it out. 💕. Be still and know I am God (Psalms 46:10).
