An honest interview about our church with a family who has been attending for just about 2 years now - Justin Fudge and Dierdre Ruth Fudge
1. What did you first think of the church at 8 Park Lane? ⛪️
J: "I thought it was beautiful architecture, great location. But I didn't know what 'Methodist' meant, it seemed like an older church, especially with 'Memorial' in the name."
D: "I honestly thought 'must be nice to have a spot so close to downtown, but are they serious about "All Are Welcome" or are they just saying that because it's trendy, but they really don't like everybody?' I was a little weary to be honest."
2. What have you come to find about the church? 🤔
J: "It's a really great community. It's so welcoming and warm, it's such a great fit for our big family. Pastor Matt has been awesome. It's what I had hoped a church could be, having grown up in a much different faith community."
D: "I actually decided to attend a service after someone from the youth program asked me about teaching a class on affirming beauty + skin care for their youth group. I was so excited to hear how they were committed to being a safe space for all. I probably cried at my first service because the music was contemporary and the message was so spot on with the loving Jesus I know."
3. What does "The Bridge" mean to you? 🌁
J: "As an engineer, I can't help but think of how it's a physical structure that spans a distance and works to unite. I think it is so spot on for our mission as a church, to be a solid space to carry the weight of the community and support as best we can."
D: "I love the new name. It's such a great symbol for how we don't feel like our church or religion is the "end game" but instead it's a tool to unite and carry ourselves and others to a better life - not just in heaven, but hopefully here in our community, living in love and support and kindness."
