For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger. Luke 2:11-12 ESV

Charles Wesley – December 18, 1707 - March 29, 1788

Today we honor our Methodist heritage in celebration of Charles Wesley's birthday.

Throughout his lifetime, Charles wrote more than 6,500 hymns, and along with his brother John, preached and spread the Gospel to the unreached. During his time at Christ Church, Oxford, Charles started a small group that John would later lead. This group became known as the "Holy Club," "Sacrementarians," "Bible Moths" and eventually, "Methodists." Today we praise God for the calling he placed on Charles Wesley's life, and share in gratitude that Charles was obedient to follow Christ and spread scriptural holiness across the globe.

🎵O for a thousand tongues to sing
my great Redeemer's praise,
the glories of my God and King,
the triumphs of his grace!🎵
