We’ll kick things off with dinner at 5:45 PM, followed by an evening of fun on the Redneck Waterslide from 6:00–7:30 PM. Come hungry, bring your friends, and be ready to get wet! Shirt and shorts are required for the waterslide. Bring a change of clothes.. AND A TOWEL!

We’re excited to celebrate the new school year with our children and youth at The Refuge! 📚🙌

The Redneck Waterslide will be available for our children and youth, and Big Kids at Heart, during the Back to School Bash! We will have water balloons and a slip and slide for the younger ones

SHIRTS & SHORTS REQUIRED‼️

Meanwhile, adult classes will continue as usual during this time. So adults, come on to class while the kids and youth enjoy some water-filled fun!

YES YOU ARE LOVED, YOU ARE CALLED, YOU ARE SENT.🙌

Christian student, this school year is about more than grades, sports, friendships, and figuring out where you fit. You have been sent.

You do not need to be the loudest Christian in your school.
Be a faithful one.
Know your Bible.
Pray for your friends.
Choose integrity when compromise would be easier.
Include the person sitting alone.
Refuse to let culture dictate your convictions.
Be ready to explain why you have hope.
Live in a way that makes people curious about Jesus.

You do not have to wait until you are older.
You do not need a platform to have influence.

Walk into school knowing who you are.
You are loved by God.
You are called to follow Jesus.
You are sent to make Him known.

Make this year count for something eternal.

I was honored today to have the opportunity to speak to the Hemphill Hornets Football Team and share from the account of David & Goliath.

David stepped onto a battlefield where everything he could see told him he was outmatched. Goliath was bigger, stronger, more experienced, and better equipped—but David refused to allow what he saw in front of him to determine what he believed was possible.

One part of the account really stood out:

“David hurried and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.” — 1 Samuel 17:48

David ran toward the giant.

I encouraged these young men that this is a new season. A new coach. A new vision. A new opportunity.

It doesn’t matter what happened last season or how long it’s been since things looked different. The past does not have to determine the future.

Others may look at a roster of only 20 players and see a disadvantage. But when 20 young men buy in, believe in one another, do their assignment, refuse to quit, and become ONE TEAM with ONE VISION—don’t underestimate what can happen.

You don’t always get to choose the giants standing in front of you.

But you do get to choose whether you run from them or RUN TOWARD THEM.

Proud of these young men and excited to see what this new season holds for the Hemphill Hornets!
