People say time flies when you’re having fun, but when things shift into a minor key, life seems to move in slow motion. We often find ourselves thinking, “I don’t know if I’m ever going to get out of these circumstances.”
This verse contains a recurring question: “How long? How long?” David’s circumstances aren’t described, but he clearly feels forgotten and forsaken—a feeling we all can relate to. It’s akin to what we feel when we lose a loved one. To be isolated from human relationships is, without question, crushing, but what David writes of here is even more significant. He’s expressing a feeling of isolation from God, Himself. In his emerging depression, we discover that his perception, as is often the case with our own, does not reflect reality. What he feels to be true does not align with what he knows to be true.

Jesus wasn’t looking for equipped men when He chose His disciples, He was looking for men He could equip. And the qualifications for Jesus’s calling? Nothing. Jesus knew John fully and loved him completely.

Jesus called John to a complete life change, not because of anything John had done or was able to do, but because Jesus loved him. Jesus does the same with each of us. He calls us to a life full of joy, not because of what we do but because of His uncontainable love for us.~Devotional~

We’ve all asked, “What’s the point to this?” We want to understand why we experience what we do. Part of this stems from a desire to not waste our time or experiences. We want to know that what we went through wasn’t in vain. If that’s your thought process, then you’re onto something. The best way to heal from our pain and disappointment is to use it to impact someone else. Maybe you struggled with infertility, had a rebellious teenager, had a marriage collapse, or battled cancer—and the list goes on. What we walk through on earth is something that God can use in someone else’s life. What once almost destroyed us is now a detour to direct us. ~When Disappointment Strikes~

Father, in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, I thank You for who You are and all that You have done in my life. Thank You for opening my spiritual eyes to see the reality of Jesus in my life. I ask that my loved ones are illuminated by Your truth and transformed by the power of Your love. I declare that I walk in supernatural understanding and enlightenment in every area of my life. All spiritual blindness, darkness, and confusion must leave my life right now in Jesus’ name! Your Word is a “lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path” (Psalm 119:105); therefore, I declare that the Word of God enlightens my decisions, my thinking, my family, and my finances. Every area in my life is blessed because of the light of Your Word shining in and through it. My future and destiny are brighter because of Your truth. I declare that I will no longer yield to deception, falsehood, or wickedness in any area of my life. Jesus, I declare that You are the Lord of my life. I long to follow You and be Your disciple. I declare that, from this day forward, I will see You in the way the Word of God reveals You. My mind is opened and my soul is aroused to the revelation of Jesus Christ. Amen!

Do you ever have the feeling that you are chasing something in life that won’t fully satisfy you? Pay attention to that feeling. It’s from God. We’re not just talking about substance abuse issues, although drinking and pursuing other addictions are certainly ways of chasing something futile. But we’ve also known a lot of “good church people” who sit in a service every week—or who preach from a pulpit to those people—who feel themselves to be far from God. They’re “successful” or “put together” or “righteous” on the outside, but they’re missing God on the inside. They keep busy with religious practices and work, school, or family, but it just isn’t enough. They long for God to feel real to them. That longing is the first spiritual awakening for all of us finding our way back to God: “There’s got to be more.”~Devotional~

But run away from the evil desires of youth. Try hard to live right and to have faith, love, and peace, together with those who trust in the Lord from pure hearts. "(2 Timothy 2:22 NCV)
RUN as fast as you can from toxic people who lead you wrong! Sweet words, promises of excitement, defying the odds,.....all of this "talk" of hanging with the in-crowd -doing what everybody else is doing because it sounds like fun, because it makes you a part of the group, etc. RUN from the urge to recapture your days of youth and the things that you thought you missed....it's OVER! It's time to get a grip and seek Christ like never before! Find those people who aren't excited about the world and all of its folly...seek those who trust in God from pure hearts....and that's the key....those who trust in God from PURE HEARTS! Yea, Lord!

HOW LONG DOES A PRAYER FOR SALVATION HAVE TO BE?"
**The thief on the cross prayed only 9 words:"Lord, remember me when You come into your kingdom." (Lk 23:42 NKJV)
**The publican in the temple prayed only 7 words:"God, be merciful to me a sinner." (Lk 18:13)
**When Peter was sinking in the Sea of Galilee, he only had time for 3 words: "Lord, save me!" (Mt 14:30)..and the good news is - Christ saved them all.
CALL ON HIM...from your heart...he's not counting your words!

I watched a movie once about a woman who was secretly poisoning her husband little by little with small doses of arsenic...a little each day until he died. He started feeling sick but went on his way daily thinking the sick feeling would pass. Well, he eventually died. That little poison went a long way!....to death....physical death! Well, sometimes when we continue to hang with friends that are in the wrong, continue to watch movies that we shouldn't, act in ways contrary to the word of Christ, speak words in contradiction to His word, and so many other cultural toxins that we do from day to day, we are slowly dosing ourselves with a poison that will eventually kill us...spiritually! The longer we continue to do these things the more poison we take into our system, and we die! I AM DAILY DETOXING! I refuse to be poisoned. CLEANING MY SYSTEM of the people, things, actions, habits, and emotions that have been slowly poisoning my spiritual survival. POISON FREE!

You can do everything right and still not defeat a sin. You can read the Bible every day. You can pray. You can have a group of friends around you who’ll speak the truth in love to you on a regular basis. And you can still be trapped in habitual sin. At the end of the day, you can’t depend upon yourself and what you can do to defeat sin. You need the Holy Spirit’s power. The Holy Spirit enables believers to do what they can’t do and fulfill God’s desire for our lives.
