Wright organized this congregation while pastor of the Noblestown-Fayetteville Charge. He started holding services every two weeks in a School House, which stood across the alley to the rear of the church in the Fall of 1873. On February 1, 1874, the church was organized with sixteen members as a Methodist Episcopal Church in the Pittsburgh Conference and a $400 building fund was raised. In the ea
rly spring, lots were purchased for $425 and a contract for $3000 was let for the building of the church. The church was built at street level and you entered from a left or right side door. On the first Tuesday of December that year the new church building was dedicated to Bishop Randolph Foster. The church was remodeled in 1904. The parsonage was purchased from Lizzie and Ida Porter in 1907. The church was raised and a basement was added in 1932. In 1956 gas furnaces were installed. In May 1959, the church decided to build an educational unit. It was dedicated on March 23, 1961. The cost was slightly over $17,000 and the mortgage on the educational unit was burned August 18, 1968. In the fall of 1969 the Rev. Veydt suggested that the congregation work together to renovate the church. During the preliminary planning, the pastor passed away and the plans were laid aside until revived in January 1972. A major renovation was completed on April 10, 1974 at a cost of approximately $61,000. A consecration service was held on April 28, 1974. A plaque was presented for the glory of God and in memory of His servant Robert Veydt. The Church was on various Circuits until 1962 when it became a Station appointment. During the last 141 years we have had 50 pastors. Many served only 1 to 3 years, especially those in the early years of the church. Through the years the Lord has blessed us. Today our attendance is nearly the same as our beginning attendance. The church has remained faithful to the teachings of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Let us take heart that He isn't finished with us yet. Let us place our faith in the Lord and be ready to respond to His leading.
