A lot of love in a marriage happens where no one can see it. You make the coffee again. You hold back the sharp thing you had every right to say. You pray for them while they sleep, and they wake up with no idea. Small, quiet, unnoticed.

It's easy to grow tired doing that kind of love, especially when it never seems to get seen. You start to wonder if any of it matters, if anyone even notices you're trying.

Here's what's true. God does. Scripture says He is not unjust, that He won't forget the work and the love you've shown for His name (Hebrews 6:10). Every hidden thing you've done in love is seen in full by the One who matters most. None of it slipped past Him.

And there's freedom in that. If you're serving your spouse to finally get noticed by them, you'll run dry and grow bitter when the thanks doesn't come. But if you're doing it because you're already fully seen and fully loved by God, you can keep pouring out without keeping score. Jesus understood this better than anyone. He loved and served people who didn't recognize what He was doing, all the way to the cross. Your unnoticed love puts you in good company.

So keep going. Do the quiet thing today, and don't wait around for credit. Let it be between you and God, and trust that He sees what no one else does.

Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalms 37:4NIV

The desires of your heart. Have you ever been direct with the Lord and said what your heart’s desire is? Yes, we know in scripture it says that He searches and knows the heart but remember we’re in a relationship with Him. He still wants to hear it. Just like your spouse still wants to hear that you love them even though they know it. This is what prayer is for. To communicate with and to God what the desires of your heart may be. Delight yourself in Him and He will give you the desires of your heart. Delight yourself in Him and He will fulfill all of your plans. Obviously the desires of our hearts are important. It’s in His word more than once, so your heart's desire is important to Him. It says, “may He grant you” in Psalms 20:4. In Psalms 37:4 it says, “He will give you”. He wants to do this. This is non-negotiable. This is a promise from the Lord. We are the church. We are His bride. Just as we want and wish to fulfill the needs of our spouse, so does He. Allow the Lord to bless you in this area. Take delight in Him. He will grant your heart’s desire and fulfill all your plans.
