First Christian Church is grateful to share a positive development regarding our annual Easter Eggstravaganza at Hill Park.
Last week, a city of Midland representative contacted us and asked us to consider moving our annual Easter Eggstravaganza to another park. We said we would be happy to work with the city to find another location in future years.
As planned, we held this yearβs Easter Eggstravaganza at Hill Park this past Saturday, just as we have for about 20 years, and it was a wonderful success. More than 1500 children, parents, and neighbors joined us for a joyful day of community celebration. We were also glad to host a number of local nonprofits and businesses sharing information about their organizations.
In my sermon yesterday, I informed our congregation about the cityβs request that we find a new location for next year. I assured our church family that we would be OK. We want to be good neighbors, and we can endure change when needed.
However, after the matter became public on social media, many people in Midland expressed strong support for First Christian Church and for Easter Eggstravaganza remaining at Hill Park. We are deeply grateful for the encouragement and goodwill of our fellow citizens. Subsequently, city officials have informed us that First Christian Church will not be required to relocate the event, and we may continue to hold Easter Eggstravaganza at Hill Park if we wish.
We look forward to working with Midland Parks & Recreation and Midland City Government, and we appreciate their support and cooperation in helping make this a great Midland community tradition.
This event has been a source of great pride for First Christian Church for many years. We work hard to leave Hill Park cleaner than we found it, and we are thankful to the surrounding neighborhood for its support and for sharing this space with us year after year.
Finally, we want to thank everyone who participated in this yearβs Easter Eggstravaganza and everyone who voiced support for our church and this event. Please mark your calendars now for Saturday, March 27, 2027, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. If all goes according to plan, we look forward to being back at Hill Park with thousands of our friends for another wonderful Easter Eggstravaganza.
