This week, members of the Horizon Texas Conference gathered in Wichita Falls for Annual Conference, a time of worship, fellowship, learning, and conducting the business of the church.
The theme, Love Boldly, was woven throughout the week, with a special emphasis on young people as both the present and future of the church. It was encouraging to see so many youth and young adults actively participating in leadership and ministry.
Conference by the numbers:
• 1,156 delegates (540 clergy and 616 lay members), along with many guests
• 13 newly ordained clergy
• 2 orders recognized
• 10 commissioned toward ordination
• 70 years of celebrating the ordination of women
A few memorable words from the week:
“How much of the church as we know it are we willing to let go of in order to follow Jesus?”
— Rev. Dr. Kendra Creasy-Dean
“God’s extravagant gift of love changes us and gives us agency to extravagantly love others.”
— Bishop Connie Shelton
“This is not a season for nostalgia or denial. This is a season for clarity, courage, and bold love.”
— Bishop Ruben Saenz
