Bonjour Zanmis! (Hello friends!)
We arrived safely in Port-au-Prince, we were healthy although not surprisingly tired. Our first adventure was to ride in a taptap. This popular form of transportation is a truck with the back end covered and the riders sit on benches. Crazy driving but we arrived safely at an intermittent top speed of 35 mph. Upon arrival we were given a tour of the complex by Kim Taylor. We met all the wonderful staff and children. After a chance to settle in, the team enjoyed our first Haitian meal with two different types of fried plantains!
Today Pastor Steve, Roger, and Bruce left for building supplies and to claim a bag lost at the airport. Long story that involves Pastor Steve losing his sanctification at the airport. Rest of the team worked on starter pots for the shade house. Thank you for your card board tubes! Rest of the afternoon was spent with fixing the shower doors, shower heads, tool safety orientation. Following this we cleaned up the goat enclosure. Believe it or not, a Creole New Testament Bible was found in there! Dinner consisted of some delicious black bean rice, beef and vegetable sauce, fried moringa.
Bruce and Roger worked on a tool to hand drill a well.
God moments- favor with customs (big time), FINALLY having the missing suit case released by customs , and in general safety for the team. Your prayers are evident and we cherish them dearly.
