Joy! such a positive word. We use it often synonymously with happiness. But what is joy? Contrary to what we think, joy does not always mean happiness. Happiness presents as instant gratification that is circumstantial and can fade. Biblical joy emerges from our assurance that Jesus will do what he said he’d do. Even when we don’t understand what is happening, we keep our trust in Jesus and it allows us to endure our circumstances.
How can you spread joy this season? To live in life and the assurance of what Jesus did for us to enjoy our circumstances, even when they stink, allows others to see what His joy can do. You can still have happiness, but know that it shouldn’t be just based on whether something happened in your favor, but based on what Jesus did for you and that gives you all the assurance you will ever need, giving everlasting joy. People from the outside will look and see how you live your life and in turn, it will influence them to see the assurance you have. As Christians, we are called to do things differently. Are you willing to do the hard things because of the joy set before you?

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”
‭‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭27‬ ‭ESV‬‬

World = temporary peace dependent on our circumstances.
Jesus = everlasting peace with knowledge of what he did on the cross and how he overcame the world. 🙌🏽

This past Sunday we talked about being peacemakers vs peace takers. When you gossip, judge others, complain without taking responsibility, this all contributes to taking someone else’s peace. You become more focused on your own pleasure instead of God’s. This creates false sense of peace.

This season God calls us to be peacemakers. To go out and give peace that we’ve been given to others.

Pray this prayer
God I thank you for your sacrifice and giving your one and only son to die for our sins and give us everlasting peace. Lord in this season and beyond help me to be a peacemaker and not a peace taker. When I fail, remind me that it is not my circumstances that determine my peace, but you Lord. Lord fill me so that I may be overflowing, and can give to others and show them the wonders of your love. In Jesus name I pray Amen. 🙏🏼

Advent is a season where we reflect, remember, and celebrate the gifts the birth of Jesus has given us. On the first Sunday of advent we talked about “Hope.”

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭15‬:‭13‬ ‭

In honor of the 1 st Sunday of advent ~ we talk about Hope. Our world view of hope is to have an expectation of something to happen or to trust something will happen. After breaking down Jeremiah 29:4-14, we see we should put our hope into the God behind our circumstance and not our own wishful thinking. By doing so, we are able to abound in hope.

Watch the full sermon on Hope , part of the series Generous Christmas as we talk about how we can abound in the hope God has shown us. and how we as Christians can be abundant in Hope and show others through trusting God behind our circumstances not our own wishful thinking. 🕯️🎁🌲
