Shooting at a presidential candidate in an attempt to end his life is definitely the culmination of the hatred that is constantly hurled at him. Support him or not, not a day goes by without any of us being exposed to the extreme hatred expressed towards this man. And the parties responsible for said hatred have made themselves very well known. This is absolutely abhorrent and unacceptable in the eyes of any reasonable human being.
Hate is wickedness at its worst. We all have experienced it and at times, give into it. That is why we need to make a point of NEVER practicing it.
We also can ill afford to entrust ANYTHING to the purveyors of hatred - including our country. Since they have made themselves very well known, we the people must hold them accountable, especially at the polls.
Hatred of even one person is WRONG, regardless of who that person may be. Character assassination, gossip, disrespect, hateful violence, and bearing false witness towards ANYONE is a sin and falls under the umbrella of hate. We are commanded to love one another and to do unto others what we would have them do unto us.
Unfortunately, today we have shamefully seen the true colors of hate in action. Not only today, but recently during local Independence Day celebrations as well.
We can do better and we can do without hate.
Hate breaks trust - especially when it comes to leadership. Leaders that deal in hate have broken that trust and are no longer good for those they lead.
Today’s events can trace their way back solely to the hatred such “leaders” have constantly promoted against the man who was on the receiving end of a bullet their narrative locked and loaded. Now watch and see how they scatter in vain attempts to claim innocence of fanning the flames of this particular hatred.
Also, those who hate us or practice hate in any way are probably not good to be within our circle of influence or friends. We all know how terrible it feels to be on the receiving end of hate. This is the best reason why we shouldn’t express hate towards others. If we don’t want to be treated that way, we certainly have no license to treat others that way.
In any case, removal of hateful leaders from office or individuals from our sphere of influence becomes necessary if corrections, forgiveness and healing are not possible.
This is a very dark path that we can ill afford to follow, as individuals and as a nation. Especially since it is clear that prejudice is certainly preceding good judgment in how decisions are being made at any level within parties or groups that have a direct impact on the future of our nation.
Those who stand in the way of freedom and justice by pursuing their own selfish, hateful ambitions destroy the fellowship and peace of any community or society. They must stand accountable and face consequences for their actions.
Let’s identify hate for what it is and resolve to remove it from the narrative, education of, and influence it has on our communities. It’s well past time for us to fight this problem as a people united.
