Hey friends,

We're gauging interest in a Spiritual Retreat the Nest will be sponsoring May 1-3. It will run from Friday night to Sunday morning, probably in Earleville, MD (about 20 minutes away).

David Shaw will be leading, using a book by Gordon T. Smith, called Alone with the Lord. There will be four individual sessions of guided prayer and meditation, followed by group sharing and discussion. Much of the time will be free for games, conversation, enjoying the outdoors, relaxation, and rest.

This is a chance to get away from the normal pace of life and find some time to commune with God and explore your own spiritual life.

This post is for anyone who composts with us at our community composting site: the snow and ice have melted enough now for the compost bins to be accessible, in case you have been saving food scraps for weeks now. In light of potentially another storm coming, feel free to drop off at any point this weekend, in the T bin. Thanks for saving the Earth with us!

If you thought this year was going fast, well, we think you're right. Lent begins this week! We don't have an Ash Wednesday Service at the Nest, but some of our folks participate with our neighbor, Church on Main - which will be meeting at 7pm on Wednesday to mark the start of this new season. You're welcome to join.

If you're snowed in today, here the link to our liturgy for the morning (really every liturgy we've ever had, if you scroll far enough). We're going to be thinking about Advent in terms of the analogies of a pregnant woman and a farmer planting seeds. The waiting is not passive - things are happening that we don't see and in order to see the best harvest, we must be at work nourishing the growing life we may not see!
