Eucharistic Adoration Fri 9:30 -11:25 a.m. Confessions Sat 10:45-11:45 a.m. The National Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel was founded to encourage and perpetuate devotion to Mary and her scapular under the special title of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Situated on 65 beautiful acres in the mid-Hudson region of New York State, the shrine is open 6 days a week, Tuesday to Friday fr

om 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. (We are closed on Monday except for the daily mass at 11:30 a.m.) Daily mass is celebrated Monday through Friday, 11:30 am and Saturdays and Sundays at 12 noon. The Sacrament of Confession is also available every Saturday from 10:45 - 11:45 a.m. All pilgrims are welcome to the Shrine. There are also monthly masses celebrated in Italian, Spanish and Vietnamese, and periodic masses in Tagalog. Here you can witness the importance of prayer in your life while deepening your commitment to God and devotion to Our Lady. Visitors may participate in daily and Sunday liturgies, days of recollection, novenas and celebrations for Carmelite feast days, the sacrament of reconciliation and the outdoor Stations of the Cross. Our programs promote Carmelite spirituality, prayer, reflection, meditation and devotion to Mary and the Carmelite saints. In the Shrine Chapel, there are over 60 sacred relics including St Patrick of Ireland, St Therese of Lisieux, St Teresa of Avila, St John of the Cross, St Edith Stein, St Albert of Trapani, St Simon Stock and a relic of the True Cross. Visit the Carmelite Gift Store, relax in the picnic grove or stroll along trails bordered by lakes and enhanced by a Cloister Walk with Carmelite Stations of the Cross and outdoor shrines including Our Lady of Knock, Our Lady of Lavang, St Joseph and Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The shrine is ministered by the Carmelite Friars of the North American Province of St. Elias, and also served by the St. Edith Stein Chapter of Lay Carmelites and the Friends of the Shrine.

Celebrating today 1st September, the feast of the Carmelite Saint Teresa Margaret Redi. Born Anna Maria Redi into a large pious family in Florence, Italy. At the age of 17, she entered the Discalced Carmelite convent, taking the name Teresa Margherita of the Sacred Heart. She advanced rapidly in her spirituality. She managed to focus both on the life of contemplative prayer and on service to her community. She worked among the sick and as an assistant to the sacristan. One Sunday, while she was in the choir, she had a mystical experience in which God revealed to her the deeper meaning of God's love. This transformed her knowledge of God. She always tried to offer a smile and a serene attitude in any situation. She believed that God would be found if one sought only God. To love her neighbours, she decided to sympathise with their problems, excuse their faults, always speak well of them, and never willingly fail in charity, in thoughts, words, or actions. Saint Teresa Margaret died on 7 March 1770 at the age of 22. She died holding her crucifix in her hands, invoking the names of Jesus and Mary. Miracles were reported immediately after her death. Her incorrupt body was transferred on the feast of the Sacred Heart to the choir of the Carmelite nuns in Florence. She once said -Ask for nothing, refuse nothing, but always be ready to do and suffer whatever comes from His Providence. St Teresa Margaret Redi - pray for us.

Another wonderful group of pilgrims spent their Saturday at the Shrine. They traveled from Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, NYC with their pastor, Franciscan Fr. Tom Mc Namara, and enjoyed the picnic grounds, beautiful weather, attended Mass and prayed the outdoor Stations of the Cross.
Thanks to Silvia, the group coordinator, and Fr. Tom for organizing a beautiful day for everyone!
