What if God wants something more for us than simply being happy?

We spend so much of life looking for the next thing that will make us happy, the new phone, the new car, the next vacation, the next “shiny new toy.” And those things can make us happy…but how long does it last?

This Sunday, we begin a new sermon series called JOY! IT"S MORE THAN HAPPY, exploring the kind of joy that doesn't depend on everything around us going right.

We can't always choose what happens around us…but by God's grace, we can choose what we allow to happen within us.

It has come to my attention that scammers are once again sending text messages pretending to be me.

Please know that I have not sent messages asking anyone to have a private or confidential conversation, nor have I asked anyone to purchase gift cards, send money, or provide financial information.

If you receive a text or email claiming to be from me that seems unusual, especially one asking for money, gift cards, personal information, or secrecy, please do not respond and do not click on any links.

Unfortunately, scammers often use the names of pastors and church leaders because they hope that our relationships of trust will make their messages seem legitimate.

If you ever receive a message from “me” and you are unsure whether it is actually from me, please contact me through the phone number or email address you already have for me rather than responding to the suspicious message.

Please also take a moment to share this information with anyone in our church family who may not regularly check their email.

Thank you for staying vigilant and looking out for one another.

What a joyous day at Evangelical UMC!

This morning, we had the privilege of blessing our children, youth, teachers, and school employees as they prepare for the year ahead.

As backpacks and briefcases were blessed, we prayed that God would guide them, protect them, and use them to share His love wherever this school year takes them.

And with their little Jesus keychains, we gave them one simple reminder:

Take a little Jesus with you this year!

May they always remember that wherever they go, Jesus goes with them. Praying for a wonderful and blessed school year for all!
