Crossroads Church

Crossroads Church The little country church at the crossroads was founded in 1848 by a horse-back riding pastor.

The widow of that pastor donated the land just after her son was killed in the Civil War. The current structure was built in 1868 with bricks hand-made on a local farm. The founding families of this sturdy little church were hard-working farmers and craftsmen whose values of faith, family and country still echo in the cozy sanctuary. This Lutheran congregation faithfully worshipped here for over 1

30 years until disbanding in 1999. Then several residents of the community, many who are descendants of the founders, banded together to preserve this historic site. The Crossroads Lutheran Church Historical Preservation Society was formed in 2000. Members of the Society have since worked to raise funds for the preservation and maintenance of the Church and Parsonage. A highlight of their work was in 2008, when The Church was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Their goals remain to not only preserve the historic nature of the Church, but also to make it available for community events and the annual, candlelight Christmas Eve service.
