Knights of Columbus "Our Lady of the Valley" Council #11703

Knights of Columbus "Our Lady of the Valley" Council #11703 We are a Catholic Men's fraternal organization. Our Council is located in Middletown, Maryland and was charted on December 6, 1995.

hanks to the efforts of Father Michael J. McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary’s Church in New Haven and some of his parishioners, the Connecticut state legislature on March 29, 1882, officially chartered the Knights of Columbus as a fraternal benefit society. The Order is still true to its founding principles of charity, unity and fraternity. The Knights was formed to render financial aid to me

mbers and their families. Mutual aid and assistance are offered to sick, disabled and needy members and their families. Social and intellectual fellowship is promoted among members and their families through educational, charitable, religious, social welfare, war relief and public relief works. The history of the Order shows how the foresight of Father Michael J. McGivney, whose cause for sainthood is being investigated by the Vatican, brought about what has become the world's foremost Catholic fraternal benefit society. The Order has helped families obtain economic security and stability through its life insurance, annuity and long-term care programs, and has contributed time and energy worldwide to service in communities. The Knights of Columbus has grown from several members in one council to more than 14,000 councils and 1.8 million members throughout the United States, Canada, the Philippines, Mexico, Poland, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Panama, the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands, Cuba, Guatemala, Guam and Saipan.

Early voting starts Thursday, October 24th and runs through Thursday, October 31st. We are encouraging EVERYONE to vote early this year if you can. Don't leave Election Day to chance. Don't let traffic, bad weather, illness, or a family emergency keep you from the polls. Every vote counts, and that means YOURS. This race will be so close, and we can't afford to let anyone stay on the sidelines or miss an opportunity to cast a ballot.

You can vote early from 7 am to 8 pm, and you can do so at any Early Voting center in the county where you live. You can also register to vote the same day that you cast your ballot.

Below is the Sign Up Genius for this weekend's Mother's Day Marigolds. Repotting will take place at Alex Kundrick's residence at 3 Crone Lane, Middletown (the Village at Foxfield). I divided it into three one hour slots, in case anyone can't stay the full three hours. Alex says he only needs three more Knights, but feel free to show up even if all the slots are filled.

Distribution will occur after all three masses, two Knights at each entrance for a total of six.

Hi all,

As you probably know, 40 Days starts this Wednesday.
As usual we'll be praying peacefully at Planned Parenthood, 170 Thomas Johnson Drive here in Frederick. Below is the schedule by each Church covering it. We can use a lot more people to pray with us. Check the times below and please try to join in.

When people are praying, it does change minds. A number of post-abortive moms have said if they'd seen someone praying for them they would have changed their minds, so perhaps you can save a baby's life.

If you don't see your Church, invite them to take even an hour one time. Frederick County Right to Life provides signs. At the bottom, you'll see 2 of our most popular. Let us know when you will be praying there if it's not a covered time, and one of us will join you.

Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak!

Kinkling day is coming! We sell a few thousand of these each year around Fat Tuesday. The best way to be sure you get some is to call and book them now!

Brother Knights,

The Council is trying to get back into the Lenten fish fry business after a long COVID-induced hiatus. Nothing is set in stone yet, but we are looking at March 3rd and 24th. I'm sending out this heads-up to guage interest and willingness to participate.

We need about 20-30 people to make this happen, including set-up (early in the day), cooks, servers, dishwashers, clean up crew, etc. We will get the Ladies Auxilliary, Catholic Daughters and Scouts involved, but we still need plenty of Knights. Spouses and children 14+ are welcome to help (good for Scout or school service hours!)

Please let me know if you think you'll be able to participate and what role you might want to fill.

Thanks,

Bill Turner
Financial Secretary
