Hey Church! I missed worshiping with you all this morning, and I hope you are all warm and safe today. I would encourage you to take this opportunity to rest…. Really Rest. I am looking forward next week to a great Sunday together as we celebrate the birth of Jesus. I wanted to give you a quick thought today about Advent Joy.

Today is our third advent Sunday, and it is Joy Sunday. Joy Sunday reminds us that Joy is not something we can manufacture, it is something we receive.

Isaiah speaks of joy breaking into darkness, Luke tells us that the angels announce “good news of great joy” to weary shepherds. This joy doesn’t come from circumstances changing overnight; it comes from knowing that God has come near. Our Joy is rooted in that presence of Jesus, not in our performance.

Today as we rest… To rest in joy is to stop striving to feel happy, and instead to trust that Christ is enough. Even when things are not so great, joy becomes a place of rest where we lean on the truth that God is with us, for us, and already at work.

On this Joy Sunday, I want to invite you to slow down, breathe deeply, and rest your hearts in the promise that Jesus is here, and that is joy no darkness can steal.

Have a great Sunday & See you next week!
