🔥 SUNDAY MORNING WORD 🔥
Topic: WALK IN WISDOM
“Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt…”
— Colossians 4:5-6
This morning, we were reminded that as children of God, we are fully dependent on Christ for everything not sometimes, but everything! 🙌🏽
Paul teaches us the importance of continual prayer, faithfulness, endurance, and spiritual alertness. We have to pray with alertness, because things are shifting and things are happening around us. The shift is going to take place whether we are ready or not, so we must remain spiritually alert and continue to seek God.
But while we pray and wait on God, we also have a responsibility:
WE HAVE TO WALK IN WISDOM.
We are being watched. 👀
People may not listen to everything we say, but they are watching how we live. They are watching our walk, our attitudes, our responses, our behavior, and how we handle life’s situations.
So we have to stop compromising and stop playing with sin. Our lives should be a testimony before the world.
Paul says to “redeem the time.”
That means take advantage of every opportunity God gives you.
How much time do we spend on things that don’t really matter?
We can spend hours scrolling. 📱
Hours watching television. 📺
Hours talking about things that don’t produce anything.
But are we spending that same time praying?
Are we building our relationship with God?
Are we making room for God-ordained moments?
Psalm 90:12 says:
“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”
Every moment matters.
Don’t fill every second of your life with work, family, church activities, entertainment, and everything else demanding your attention. Leave room for God.
Sometimes those quiet moments in prayer are God-ordained moments where God wants to comfort us, speak to us, guide us, and strengthen us.
Don’t be so busy that you miss what God is trying to do.
REDEEM THE TIME!
When you get an opportunity to talk about Jesus—walk in it! 🙌🏽
It doesn’t matter if you’re in the supermarket, at work, at school, in the neighborhood, or simply having a conversation with someone.
Every opportunity to talk about Jesus, take it!
Every opportunity to love somebody, love them!
Every opportunity to serve, serve!
Every opportunity to encourage, encourage!
Every opportunity to tell somebody about the goodness of Jesus, tell them!
And when our lives are truly Christ-centered, we won’t just recognize opportunities, sometimes we’ll make the opportunity.
Have you ever started a conversation just to tell somebody about Jesus?
1 Peter 3:15 reminds us to set Christ apart as holy in our hearts and always be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks about the hope that is within us but to do it with gentleness and respect.
We don’t have to argue with people about Jesus.
We don’t have to tear people down.
We don’t have to be harsh or judgmental.
We can tell people about Jesus in love.
Sometimes doing what is right will cause us to suffer. But if we have to suffer, let us suffer for doing what is right and for the sake of Jesus! Hallelujah! 🙌🏽
LET YOUR SPEECH BE SEASONED WITH GRACE.
Our words matter.
Colossians tells us to let our speech be gracious and seasoned with salt.
The goal isn’t to put people down, cut people down, or make people feel small.
The goal is to bring out the best in people.
And remember your words aren’t the only thing speaking.
Your expression speaks.
Your attitude speaks.
Your body language speaks.
Your lifestyle speaks.
People can see what is in us before we ever open our mouths. Jesus said we are the salt of the earth. And salt is meant to add flavor.
DON’T LOSE YOUR FLAVOR!
As believers, we should be enhancing people’s lives, encouraging them, loving them, helping them, and pointing them toward Christ.
We are called to be different.
So this week, let’s make a commitment to:
⏰ REDEEM THE TIME.
🙏🏽 PRAY WITH ALERTNESS.
❤️ LOVE PEOPLE.
🙌🏽 SERVE JESUS.
🗣️ TELL SOMEBODY ABOUT JESUS.
🧂 STAY SEASONED WITH GRACE.
🔥 DON’T LOSE YOUR FLAVOR.
👣 WALK IN WISDOM.
We don’t know how many opportunities God is going to put in front of us this week.
Don’t miss them.
Take advantage of every God-ordained moment.
Walk wisely.
Speak graciously.
Love genuinely.
Serve faithfully.
And keep Jesus at the center of it all.
When we walk in the wisdom of God and redeem the time, God will make it all right!
HALLELUJAH! 🙌🏽🔥
