🔥 Sunday morning recap 🔥

Topic: WORDS CAN ENCOURAGE OR DESTROY 🙌🏽

📖 Scripture: James 3:5–10

Today’s message reminded us that our tongue may be small, but it carries GREAT power. Our words can either encourage or destroy, build up or tear down, heal or hurt, give life or cause pain.

James compares the tongue to a fire. Just like a small spark can grow into a fire that consumes everything around it, one careless word can spread and cause damage that cannot easily be taken back.

And today, our “tongue” isn’t just our mouth. Sometimes it’s our text messages, comments, posts, and conversations. Once those words are sent or spoken, we cannot take them back.

We are all leaders and teachers in some way. Whether it’s with our children, families, friends, or on our jobs, somebody is watching us and learning from us. That’s why we must be intentional about what comes out of our mouths.

James reminds us that no man can tame the tongue but GOD CAN! 🙏🏽

So our prayer should be:

“Lord, tame my tongue.”

Tame my tongue when I’m angry.
Tame my tongue when I want to gossip.
Tame my tongue when I want to criticize.
Tame my tongue when I want to tell somebody off.
Tame my tongue when I want to talk about somebody.
Tame my tongue when I want to have the last word.

Let our words be filled with grace, peace, truth, love, mercy, encouragement, and wisdom.

If we can’t build someone up, let’s not tear them down. If we can’t say something good, sometimes the wisest thing we can do is say nothing at all.

🔥 Don’t let your tongue be a fire.
💧 Let your mouth be a fountain of sweet water.

Because WORDS CAN ENCOURAGE OR DESTROY.

🙏🏽 Lord, tame our tongues and help our words bring life!

❤️ THURSDAY’S WALK IN WISDOM CHALLENGE ❤️

This week we’ve been praying with alertness, walking in wisdom, and redeeming the time.

Today, let’s put our faith into action:

LOVE PEOPLE. ❤️

Not just the people who love you back.
Not just the people who agree with you.
Not just the people who are easy to love.

Love anyway.

Somebody may need the kindness you’re tempted to withhold.
Somebody may need the encouragement you almost didn’t give.
Somebody may need to see Jesus through you.

You never know what someone is carrying behind their smile.

So today, choose kindness.
Choose patience.
Choose forgiveness.
Choose grace.
Choose love.

Be intentional about loving somebody in the name of Jesus today. 🙌🏽

You may be the God-ordained moment someone has been praying for.

❤️ LOVE PEOPLE. WALK IN WISDOM. BE THE LIGHT.

Make time to grow.

And tonight is another God-ordained opportunity! 🙌🏽

👣 TUESDAY’S WALK IN WISDOM CHALLENGE 👣

Yesterday, we talked about praying with alertness. Today, let’s take the next step:

WALK IN WISDOM.

It’s one thing to pray for God to guide your steps.
It’s another thing to actually follow His direction.

Today, before you respond, think.
Before you speak, pray.
Before you make a decision, seek God.
Before you react, ask yourself: “Does this represent Christ?”

Your walk is your witness.

Somebody is watching how you handle what you prayed about.

So today, don’t just talk about being a child of God but WALK LIKE ONE. 👣

Walk wisely.
Walk humbly.
Walk in love.
Walk in truth.
Walk with Jesus.

🔥 Your walk may open a door for somebody else to see Christ.

WALK IN WISDOM! 🙌🏽

🔥 THIS WEEK’S CHALLENGE: WALK IN WISDOM🔥

As we step into a new week, let’s carry the Word with us, not just on Sunday, but every day.

This week, we are challenging ourselves to:

🙏🏽 Pray with alertness.
👣 Walk in wisdom.
⏰ Redeem the time.
❤️ Love people.
🗣️ Tell somebody about Jesus.
🧂 Stay seasoned with grace.
🔥 Don’t lose your flavor!

Every day, God gives us opportunities to pray, love, serve, encourage, and point somebody to Jesus.

Don’t miss what God is placing in front of you.

Every moment is an opportunity.
Don’t waste a God ordained moment.

This week, let’s be intentional. Let’s walk differently. Let’s live wisely. Let’s represent Christ well.

Monday challenge is: 🙏🏽 PRAY WITH ALERTNESS!

Don’t just pray but watch while you pray.

There are things shifting around you that require you to stay spiritually alert. The enemy doesn’t always announce his attack, so we must stay connected to God through prayer.

Pray when things are good.
Pray when things are changing.
Pray when you don’t understand.
Pray when you do understand.

Stay watchful. Stay faithful. Stay in prayer. 🙏🏽🔥

Something may be shifting, but God is already ahead of you!

WATCH. PRAY. BELIEVE.

🔥 SUNDAY MORNING WORD 🔥

Topic: WALK IN WISDOM

“Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt…”
— Colossians 4:5-6

This morning, we were reminded that as children of God, we are fully dependent on Christ for everything not sometimes, but everything! 🙌🏽

Paul teaches us the importance of continual prayer, faithfulness, endurance, and spiritual alertness. We have to pray with alertness, because things are shifting and things are happening around us. The shift is going to take place whether we are ready or not, so we must remain spiritually alert and continue to seek God.

But while we pray and wait on God, we also have a responsibility:

WE HAVE TO WALK IN WISDOM.

We are being watched. 👀

People may not listen to everything we say, but they are watching how we live. They are watching our walk, our attitudes, our responses, our behavior, and how we handle life’s situations.

So we have to stop compromising and stop playing with sin. Our lives should be a testimony before the world.

Paul says to “redeem the time.”

That means take advantage of every opportunity God gives you.

How much time do we spend on things that don’t really matter?

We can spend hours scrolling. 📱
Hours watching television. 📺
Hours talking about things that don’t produce anything.

But are we spending that same time praying?
Are we building our relationship with God?
Are we making room for God-ordained moments?

Psalm 90:12 says:

“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”

Every moment matters.

Don’t fill every second of your life with work, family, church activities, entertainment, and everything else demanding your attention. Leave room for God.

Sometimes those quiet moments in prayer are God-ordained moments where God wants to comfort us, speak to us, guide us, and strengthen us.

Don’t be so busy that you miss what God is trying to do.

REDEEM THE TIME!

When you get an opportunity to talk about Jesus—walk in it! 🙌🏽

It doesn’t matter if you’re in the supermarket, at work, at school, in the neighborhood, or simply having a conversation with someone.

Every opportunity to talk about Jesus, take it!
Every opportunity to love somebody, love them!
Every opportunity to serve, serve!
Every opportunity to encourage, encourage!
Every opportunity to tell somebody about the goodness of Jesus, tell them!

And when our lives are truly Christ-centered, we won’t just recognize opportunities, sometimes we’ll make the opportunity.

Have you ever started a conversation just to tell somebody about Jesus?

1 Peter 3:15 reminds us to set Christ apart as holy in our hearts and always be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks about the hope that is within us but to do it with gentleness and respect.

We don’t have to argue with people about Jesus.

We don’t have to tear people down.

We don’t have to be harsh or judgmental.

We can tell people about Jesus in love.

Sometimes doing what is right will cause us to suffer. But if we have to suffer, let us suffer for doing what is right and for the sake of Jesus! Hallelujah! 🙌🏽

LET YOUR SPEECH BE SEASONED WITH GRACE.

Our words matter.

Colossians tells us to let our speech be gracious and seasoned with salt.

The goal isn’t to put people down, cut people down, or make people feel small.

The goal is to bring out the best in people.

And remember your words aren’t the only thing speaking.

Your expression speaks.
Your attitude speaks.
Your body language speaks.
Your lifestyle speaks.

People can see what is in us before we ever open our mouths. Jesus said we are the salt of the earth. And salt is meant to add flavor.

DON’T LOSE YOUR FLAVOR!

As believers, we should be enhancing people’s lives, encouraging them, loving them, helping them, and pointing them toward Christ.

We are called to be different.

So this week, let’s make a commitment to:

⏰ REDEEM THE TIME.
🙏🏽 PRAY WITH ALERTNESS.
❤️ LOVE PEOPLE.
🙌🏽 SERVE JESUS.
🗣️ TELL SOMEBODY ABOUT JESUS.
🧂 STAY SEASONED WITH GRACE.
🔥 DON’T LOSE YOUR FLAVOR.
👣 WALK IN WISDOM.

We don’t know how many opportunities God is going to put in front of us this week.

Don’t miss them.

Take advantage of every God-ordained moment.

Walk wisely.
Speak graciously.
Love genuinely.
Serve faithfully.
And keep Jesus at the center of it all.

When we walk in the wisdom of God and redeem the time, God will make it all right!

HALLELUJAH! 🙌🏽🔥
