Building 323 Building 323 is an outreach ministry in Johnston County. We operate a food pantry on Mondays from 5 to 6:30 and simple worship on Saturdays at 6 PM.

Linda Joyce Johnson Creechl

January 18, 1943 – January 3, 2026

EMIT – Linda Joyce Creech, 82, died Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield.

Born January 18, 1943, to the late James Herbert Johnson and Lillie Esther Champion Johnson, Joyce was one of eight children. A graduate of Wendell High School, Joyce married the late Stacy Manning Creech in February 1962. A member of Watkins Chapel Baptist Church, Joyce taught the College and Career, JOY and Senior Adult Sunday School classes for many years. She was also an active volunteer at the Building 323 food pantry.

In addition to her parents and husband, Joyce was preceded in death by siblings, James Johnson Jr., Norwood Johnson, Albert Johnson, Marie Ausley and Genevieve McLean.

Surviving are daughters, Angela (Randy) Pace and Stephanie Creech; grandchildren, Morgan (Jerry) Sands and Matthew (Olivia) Pace; great-grandchildren, Eli Sands, Tucker Sands and Theo Pace; brothers, Maurice Johnson and Judson Johnson; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 6, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home, Wendell. Funeral will be Wednesday, January 7, at 3 p.m. at Watkins Chapel Baptist Church with Billy Rice and Randy Pace officiating. Burial will follow in the family cemetery at 12010 N.C. 39 Hwy., Zebulon.
