Thursday Thoughts 💭
By Loretta Guerra (Youth member)
There are two people I know
One is a kid and they have everything they want and recieve everything they ask for. They have no reason in several people's eyes to be miserable, but they are. They complain about the littlest things. They never smile and they never have enough an are never satisfied. Most of all, they blame God for the littlest things that happen.
There's another person I know. I met them doing Homeless ministry. I was handing out food when this person came through the line. They were dirty, they smelled bad, but there was a smile so big on this person's face that through me off. I handed them a bag of food and they acted like a had handed them a bag of gold. They were talking about how grateful they were. The thing they talked about the most was God. They kept thanking God for the smallest things that we don't think to be thankful for.
The homeless person had nothing while the first person had everything and while we would expect the homeless person to curse God for being homeless and the other person to thank God for everything they have. Rather, the roles are swapped.
Proverbs 13:7 NKJV
There is one who makes himself rich, yet has nothing; And one who makes himself poor, yet has great riches
This verse isnt talking about the poor man having physical riches but he gets the better things in life because he sees them. He's happier because he's satisfied with his work. He has purpose because he has something to fight for everyday. It doesnt mean life is easier but it might mean life is more enjoyable. The poor man is rich in spirit.
Life isnt supposed to easy, otherwise what's the satisfaction of having a good life?
