Bezerra de Menezes - Miami We are a non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide spiritual and social assistance to the community. All our activities are free of charge.

We function strictly through volunteers who work in the different areas of need, towards the dissemination of the Kardecian Spiritism Doctrine, comprised of three aspects: scientific, philosophical and religious. Our Center holds public activities which consist of, classes, conferences, and seminars. At these public events the attendees have the opportunity of advancing their knowledge in the Spir

itist Doctrine as well as receiving physical/spiritual assistance through magnetic energy. Our library has a voluminous collection of reading material, and its members have the opportunity of borrowing books and reading material in Spanish, English and Portuguese.

Adolfo Bezerra de Menezes Cavalcanti (29 de agosto de 1831 - 11 de abril de 1900, Rio de Janeiro-RJ) foi um expoente da Doutrina Espírita no Brasil do século XIX, tendo trabalhado em benefício dos mais necessitados, recebendo o título de “médico dos pobres”.
Esteve como presidente da Federação Espírita Brasileira por duas ocasiões, em 1890 e em 1895 até sua desencarnação, em 11 de abril de 1900. Além da medicina, trabalhou como jornalista — sendo o editor da redação de Reformador nos anos em que foi presidente da FEB. Como político, foi parlamentar na Câmara dos Deputados por quase 30 anos, desenvolvendo diversos trabalhos em prol da união e da liberdade dos estudiosos da Doutrina Espírita.
O Espiritismo já vinha atraindo multidões quando, em 1875, foi oferecido a Bezerra de Menezes um exemplar da primeira tradução de O livro dos espíritos em português, entregue por seu tradutor, Dr. Joaquim Carlos Travassos, que se ocultou sob o pseudônimo de Fortúnio.
