FROM Jon Jennings
Several asked about the prayer I prayed at Pure Heart today regarding the Israel/Iran crisis. See below for the full text.

Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the Universe—You who neither slumbers nor sleeps, who watches over Israel and sees the nations. You are just in all Your ways and near to all who call on You in truth…

You are the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—
the Holy One of Israel, and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Today, with hearts bowed and eyes lifted to heaven,
we pray for the peace of Jerusalem—the city You have chosen, the place where Your glory has dwelt,
where Your Son was crucified, buried, and raised,
where the Church was born in power, and where He will return in glory.

We ask that your shalom would rest upon Jerusalem—not just the absence of war, but the presence of justice, righteousness, and truth.

Lord, we know Jerusalem is more than a city.
It is the epicenter of Your covenant, the stage of redemption, and the place where heaven touched earth.

So we cry out: establish Your peace!

Let Your kingdom come, and Your will be done, in Jerusalem as it is in heaven.

God of mercy, we also know that Your eyes roam the earth, and Your heart is moved by every cry of the innocent. We bring before You the people of Iran—a land with ancient ties to Your story, a people created in Your image.

Have mercy, Lord, on those who suffer.
For the mothers and fathers mourning the loss of sons and daughters, the children hiding in fear, and the men and women caught in a conflict they did not choose—

We ask for comfort, for protection, for hope.
We do not come with political answers. We come with broken hearts, believing You are near to the brokenhearted and that You save those who are crushed in spirit.

Lord, tear down the veil of hatred.
Disarm the spirits of violence.
Raise up peacemakers, even in places of power.
Protect the innocent on every side, and restrain the hands of those bent on destruction.

And Father, above all, we pray that both Jew and Gentile, Israeli and Iranian, would see the beauty of Jesus Christ our Lord, the Prince of Peace, and turn to Him for life.

Until that day when you return in power and glory – the day when swords are beaten into plowshares and nation no longer lifts sword against nation. Until that day when the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled and all go to the mountain of the Lord – Jerusalem and the law goes forth from Zion, we will watch and pray.

We will weep and believe. We will bless Jerusalem, plead for mercy for the nations, and boldy declare you as the hope of salvation for all people.

You said when these things begin to come to pass to lift up our heads for our redemption is near. We say Come quickly, Lord Jesus.

In Christ’s Name, Amen.
