All are welcome to join our Social Justice Community meeting. Come share your voice and your ideas! UUMiami’s Social Justice Community is currently working on immigration concerns, voices for reproductive rights, the tragedy in Israel, Palestine and Gaza, and Climate Justice. Through our Share the Plate initiative, we support the Women’s Emergency Network, Safe Schools South Florida, PACT, and Chainless Change. By supporting local organizations, our hope is to uplift and educate our congregation while also taking action for all of Miami. Meeting takes place in the Emerson room.

We begin where the wound begins. Outside us. In the cultures, families, scriptures, schools, neighborhoods, and screens that taught some of us, gently or violently, that some parts of being human are unwelcome here. Stigma is a pressure. A long, accumulating pressure on the body and the soul. We start by naming the pressure and how it shapes a life.

Let’s share together this first Sunday of Pride Month, and begin a wonderful new theme: Pride in Motion — Sacred Resistance. We will see you at 11:00 am live in the sanctuary or Livestream on our YouTube Channel

And join us after the service as we host our First Sunday of the Month potluck! This is a wonderful opportunity for togetherness and connections. Please bring a dish to share as part of the meal. Vegetarian and vegan options are welcomed. We are also a nut-free campus.

This Sunday, May 31, UU Miami will close our May series, Evolution Within Us: From Cosmos to Consciousness, with Annual Meeting Sunday: Choosing What We Become.

During the service, committee chairs and ministry leaders will share what they accomplished this year and their hopes for the next program year. After the service, members in good standing will vote on the proposed 2026-2027 budget and on the ordination of Rev. Dr. Harold Marrero and Media Minister Derrick Mustelier, so they may continue their ministerial fellowship journey with the wider UUA.

Let’s gather together at 11:00 am live in the sanctuary or Livestream on our YouTube Channel

Memorial Day invites many kinds of remembrance.

Today, we hold gratitude and care for all who served in the military, including the many Unitarian Universalists who gave of themselves in service to their country and communities. We honor those who died in war and military service, and the loved ones who carry their memory forward.

We also hold close the immeasurable human cost of violence—lives lost, families changed forever, communities shattered, and generations shaped by grief.

Veterans For Peace calls for a deeper kind of remembrance: one that resists turning this day into a celebration of militarism and instead asks us to reckon honestly with the human cost of war.

At a time when war and suffering continue across the globe, may we remember that every life carries inherent worth and dignity. And may we continue the work of building communities grounded in compassion, justice, and peace.

Today as we share the message DEUS: THE GODS WE MIGHT BECOME, we enter the ancient human imagination and the future now unfolding in our hands. Across cultures and centuries, human beings have imagined gods who could create, destroy, heal, judge, bless, command storms, raise the dead, and hold the fate of the world. Today, many powers once placed in the realm of sacred story have entered human tools. We split atoms. We map genomes. We edit genes. We create artificial intelligence. We transplant organs. We send instruments into deep space. We alter ecosystems. We change the atmosphere of a planet. We extend life, reshape bodies, and build technologies whose consequences we cannot fully predict. This service honors science as disciplined wonder while asking how wisdom grows alongside knowledge. Every tool carries the emotional life of the species that creates it. A self-aware humanity can use power for healing, restoration, access, justice, and shared flourishing. Deus invites us to ask what kind of people we must become if we are to hold such power with humility, compassion, restraint, and care.

Let’s continue to enjoy this long weekend together at 11:00 am live in the sanctuary or Livestream on our YouTube Channel

There are moments when the noise of the world settles into our bodies without us realizing it. An hour of stillness can become a quiet act of return, a way of remembering yourself beneath the pressure, beneath the pace.

UU Miami invites you to join us tonight from 7:30 to 8:30 pm for an evening of meditation in the Emerson Room. This is a simple, welcoming space to pause, breathe, and gently come back into alignment with yourself.

Whether you have an established practice or are stepping into meditation for the first time, you are invited just as you are. No expectations, no performance. Just presence, shared in community.

In a world that constantly asks us to move faster, choosing to be still can be its own kind of courage.

sister, brother, parent, child,
for the kinship we all share,
for all gentle thoughts and mild:
Source of all, to thee we raise this,
our hymn of grateful praise.”

Today as we share the message Humanity: The Family System of the Species, we turn toward the human race. A newborn enters the world searching for connection before it understands words. The first universe is relational. Human beings evolved through bonding, signaling, cooperating, protecting, remembering, teaching, storytelling, ritual, and shared meaning. We are an emotional species as much as an intelligent one, shaped by ancient survival patterns and by the systems that surround us. Bowen’s Theory of Self-Differentiation gives us a way to understand this human task. It asks how we might remain connected without losing ourselves, how we might stay present under pressure, how we might speak from values rather than reactivity, and how we might live in relationship without being swallowed by anxiety. This Sunday invites us to see humanity itself as a vast family system under pressure, carrying the weight of climate disruption, political polarization, migration, racial injustice, religious trauma, loneliness, technological change, and inherited fear. It asks whether our next stage of evolution may require emotional maturity as much as scientific brilliance.
