Our History:
Prince of Peace parish was established by Archbishop Edward McCarthy in June 17, 1987. It is a multiethnic community integrated by Catholics of this nation and others who have come principally from the Caribbean islands and Central and South America. After surmounting many obstacles the parish community managed to erect a multipurpose building, which was dedicated by the Archbishop i
n 1999. The boundaries are, on the North: North Line Canal, on the South: SW 8 St, on the East: Florida’s Turnpike, on the West: The Everglades. To better respond to the needs of its members, Masses are celebrated in English and Spanish. The music and choirs at the different celebrations reflect the variety of cultures and enrich the liturgy. The faithful of the parish have a high sense of solidarity which they express through their generous support to the missions, both in the archdiocese and abroad. The numerous groups and ministers of the parish are aware that to “serve” is a divine calling and a privilege, and they do so with simplicity and joy. The “Hispanic Festival”, which is held each year, is a celebration of “unity in the diversity”, a miracle that is only possible to live from the standpoint of the Christian message. We, the people of Prince of Peace, are a multicultural, Catholic, Apostolic community, striving to have God at the center in our lives through the strength we receive in prayers, the word and the sacraments; working together to proclaim the message of Jesus; love one another as I have loved you. La parroquia Príncipe de Paz, fue establecida por el Arzobispo Edward McCarthy el 17 de junio de 1987, es una comunidad multiétnica integrada por católicos nacidos en este país y otros oriundos de las islas del Caribe y Centro y Sur América. Por más de diez años la misa fue celebrada en Belén Jesuit Preparatory School. Tras superar muchos obstáculos, la parroquia logró construir un edificio para usos múltiples, que fue dedicado por el arzobispo en el año 1999. Los límites de la Parroquia son, en el norte: North Line Canal, en el sur: SW 8 Calle, en el este: Florida’s Turnpike, en el oeste: Los Everglades. Para responder a las necesidades de todos sus miembros, las Misas se celebran en inglés y español y la música que interpretan los distintos coros refleja la variedad cultural y enriquece la liturgia. Sus feligreses tienen un alto sentido de la solidaridad humana y lo expresan con su apoyo generoso a las misiones en la arquidiócesis o en el extranjero. Los numerosos grupos y ministerios de la parroquia están conscientes de que “servir” es una llamada divina y un privilegio, y lo hacen con sencillez y alegría. EL “Festival de la Hispanidad”, que se realiza una vez al año, es una celebración de “la unidad en la diversidad”, milagro que es posible realizar desde la vivencia del mensaje cristiano. Nosotros, el pueblo de Príncipe de Paz, somos una comunidad Católico Cristiana multicultural, aspirando poner a Dios como el centro de nuestras vidas a través de la fuerza que obtenemos en la oración, la palabra y los sacramentos, luchando juntos para proclamar el mensaje de Jesús; amaos los unos a los otros, como yo os he amado.
