A MESSAGE ABOUT CHURCH TOMORROW:
I hope all of you are doing well during this weird time we’re living in. My hope is that you would not get anxious, fearful, angry, or frustrated during this season but that you would just trust in Jesus. He’s taken care of us so far, and He’ll continue to take care of us in the future.
I wanted to reach out to you all and let you know that the elders and I have decided it would be best to NOT meet for church on Sundays for the next few weeks in person but to publish some messages online at our normal time (10:30 am). I feel that it is wise to limit our interactions and submit to the Federal guidelines of cancelling groups of 10 or more meeting together. This is an attempt to love our neighbors and to do what we can to “flatten the curve”. We don’t know how this will end up or even where we’re at in the slope of the infection in the US but I want to make sure we are do our part.
While a sermon online is one way to stay connected, I acknowledge it comes up short from the really good stuff we get to experience when we’re in the same room together…hello, donuts?!! The church is not about sitting around and hearing a message (although the Word of God is vital to us), the church is actually about being the hands and feet of God in our world. So I want to give you some ideas to virtually engage with one another and continue fellowship while practicing social distancing:
Find a reading plan YouVersion and go through it together as a family
Tune in to our Facebook Live sermon on Sunday morning
Check in with our other members - call, text, message, facetime, e-mail, etc.; stay connected as much as you can.
Set aside some intentional time (Sunday morning is a good start!) to be still and pray and enjoy God’s presence.
Offer your services to help an at-risk person during this time with any errands
Be kind
I will miss seeing you all every week for a while, but I am confident God will make this a powerful time of connecting with HIM and seeing His grace and mercy at work in us and through us.
Please feel free to call me if you have any concerns or if you need anything at all (918-320-9313)
I love you all very much and I’m grateful to be your pastor.
-David
