Whenever God calls you to build something for His kingdom, expect opposition. Nehemiah was called to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, but Tobiah constantly tried to discourage, distract, and intimidate him. He mocked the work, spread lies, and sought every opportunity to stop God’s plan (Nehemiah 4–6).

Yet Nehemiah refused to come down from the wall. His famous response was, “I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down” (Nehemiah 6:3). He understood that responding to every critic would only delay his God-given assignment.

The lesson is clear: every Nehemiah will encounter a Tobiah. Not everyone will celebrate your progress. Some will question your calling, criticize your obedience, or attempt to distract you from your purpose. But your responsibility is not to fight every battle—it is to remain faithful to what God has entrusted to you.

Keep building. Keep praying. Keep trusting God. Let Him deal with the Tobiahs while you remain on the wall. What God has ordained cannot be destroyed by the opinions, schemes, or opposition of people. Stay focused, because your assignment is greater than your distractions, and the God who called you is faithful to complete what He has begun.

May the Lord give you the discernment to recognize distractions and the courage to remain faithful to your assignment until the work is finished.
