1 Timothy 2:1-3 King James Version (KJV)
1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour.
The biggest and foremost attribute of a Christian is to pray and to pray always! With and for themselves but with respect for all men in general especially for those in authority! Paul says that we must incorporate all our supplications in our prayers and that intercession should go along with thankfulness of heart! God expects His people to be a praying people not just for ourselves but along for others who are in need of or desire prayer! As Christians we are called to pray for the enemies of Christianity and all who around the world persecute Christians because of their belief! The main thrust of our prayer life should be one that would lead us and others to quiet and peaceful life and to help us get around through the worldly systems unmolested and uncountered by opposing forces! Our lives must express our godliness and honesty and we must let our minds be careful with our duty at hand! Here are the two key words that will help us in all our endeavors, godliness and honesty which will help us to remain holy towards our God and honest with all men! These two words once incorporated in a Christians life will need to remain together for if we are not truly honest towards all men and if we are not Godly children before our God, then we are not rendering God His due and we will lose all respect amongst men! All men even those in government and leadership are in need of our prayers for they have may difficult things and decisions to make! The God that we serve desires that we keep such men in prayer because of His will that all men be saved! The death of Christ was a ransom, a counter-price. We deserved to have died but Christ died for us, to save us from death and hell; he gave himself a ransom voluntarily, a ransom for all; so that all mankind is put in a better condition than that of devils. He died to work out a common salvation for all mankind! Prayer is not to be confined to any one particular house of prayer, but men must pray everywhere no place is amiss for prayer, no place is more acceptable to God than another, Pray every where. We must pray in our closets, pray with our families, pray at our meals, pray when we are on journeys, and pray in the solemn assemblies. It is the will of God that in prayer we should lift up holy hands: Lifting up holy hands, or pure hands, pure from the pollution of sin, washed in the fountain opened for sin and uncleanness. How would you rate your prayer life? God Bless You!
1 Timothy 2:8 King James Version (KJV)
8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
