Father God, we thank you for purposing specific souls with the valiant hearts to serve in the military forces that protect the United States of America throughout the generations, committed to fighting for our freedoms that we thoroughly enjoy today.

Please comfort and encourage the family members and comrades that fought alongside those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

The general public cannot fathom the horrific painful sites and sounds that accompany the battlefields in this immense call to serve with bravery, courage, and selflessness prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice.

We take for granted the intense training, the long stretches of being separated from their loved ones, and even more, so those who had prayed that they would return home, yet grieviously returned in a coffin bearing our American flag-- Old Glory.

On this day, we honor every single fallen service man and woman who died protecting the freedoms that we have today in this country.

Let us not treat these freedoms haphazardly and grumble with discontentment, for that is a disgrace and dishonor to the immeasurable cost of those who lost their lives, leaving behind their devastated loved ones, so that we could have our lives and freedom today.

LORD OF HOSTS, You are the ultimate warrior, and you fashioned those brave heroes to follow in your footsteps.

So we thank You and praise You as we humble our hearts with gratitude and Thanksgiving on this Memorial Day.

John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

Galatians 5:13 For you, my brothers, were called to freedom; only do not let your freedom become an opportunity for the sinful nature (worldliness, selfishness), but through love serve and seek the best for one another.
