Sweet Annabelle, a yellow tulip blooms for you. Your headstone was re-set and cleaned last year.

July 1928 -- Annabelle Clemons, six-year-old of Fulton, N.Y was crushed to death beneath the wheels of a milk wagon Tuesday of last week. It was Annabelle's custom each morning to meet the milkman and ride with him. She climbed on the wagon side entrance and halfway down the steep Seward street hill in Fulton, in some manner lost her balance and fell beneath the right rear wheel of the heavy wagon loaded with milk cans. Before the driver could stop, the wheels passed over the child’s body. Passersby carried the girl to the porch of a nearby house, but her little life was gone before a physician arrived.

There's good news to share about some of the overturned and damaged stones at the cemetery - they have been fixed and are standing tall again! Many thanks to all those who donated to have them fixed including Mexico VFW Post #369 and all the individuals who helped. Only with your support was this project possible. It took about 4 years to make it happen but now it's done.

Also a huge thank you to Kellogg Memorials who worked with us to make these stones as beautiful as they were when first installed. The Village DPW poured new footers during some of the hottest days this summer so we're grateful for their hard work.
All the stones will be cleaned and their plots graded and seeded. They will look better than ever!

Saturday, August 16 at 9am at the Mexico Village Cemetery, Academy Street, Mexico

Come join us to learn how to clean cemetery monuments. Sandy Burdick and Sue Vaughn will provide supplies needed to clean marble and granite stones. Bring a bucket, something to kneel on, such as a towel, any plastic or nylon brushes you want to use, and elbow grease. No metal scrapers or wire brushes, please!

The class is dedicated to Danny Scaggs who passed away last year. His wife, Alma, donated cleaning supplies so we may continue to show that we care about those who have gone before us.

You'll learn about stones and maybe a little history.

Sign up by texting or calling Sue Vaughn at 315 380-2414 or email at "[email protected]". Only 20 participants will be able to join us so sign up early. Children are welcome but no pets, please. Past participants are welcome to return.

We'll meet inside the cemetery entrance and you can park across the street.

The class will last up to 2 hours but will be cancelled if it rains!
