We’ve all been there. Whether it’s a past wound, a current struggle, or a habit that feels impossible to break, you don’t have to carry it alone.
Faith Lutheran Church is excited to announce our new “Hurts, Hang-ups, and Habits” Recovery Support Group starting April 6th.
This is a "large umbrella" group designed to help with a limitless number of issues. We combine biblically-based healing with proven strategies like:
âś… 12-Step Recovery & Celebrate Recovery
âś… Cognitive & Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
âś… Mindfulness & Fellowship
The Secret to Happiness: When we stop wasting time fixing the blame, we have more energy to fix the problem. That’s when the healing power of Christ can truly begin working in our minds, wills, and emotions.

Examples of Hurts:
• Abuse: Physical, sexual, emotional, or verbal abuse, whether experienced recently or in childhood.
• Abandonment/Rejection: Feeling deserted by a parent, spouse, or other loved ones.
• Betrayal: The pain of adultery, being cheated on, or having trust broken by a friend or family member.
• Relationship Breakdowns: The pain of divorce, separation, or a difficult, dysfunctional family dynamic.
• Loss: Grief over the death of a loved one, financial loss, or a dream that was never realized.
Examples of Hang-ups:
• Anger and Resentment: Chronic anger toward people, situations, or even God; a refusal to forgive.
• Fear and Anxiety: General worry, panic attacks, or specific fears (e.g., fear of rejection, failure).
• Guilt and Shame: Carrying the persistent feeling of being "not good enough" or responsible for things outside of one’s control.
• Perfectionism and Pride: A need to control everything and everyone, or an inability to admit to being wrong or having weaknesses.
• Codependency: An unhealthy reliance on another person for one's sense of worth, often leading to enabling their destructive behaviors.
• Depression and Low Self-Esteem: Negative self-image and ongoing emotional lows.
Examples of Habits:
• Chemical Addiction: Alcoholism or drug abuse.
• Process Addictions: Gambling, over-spending/shopping.
• Eating Disorders: Anorexia, bulimia, overeating, or food addiction.
• Behavioral Issues: Lying, gossip, workaholism, self-harm, or isolation.
