Dear Friends and Family,

We are excited to share that a group of GBC students will be traveling to Nicaragua on a mission trip August 15–22, 2026. During this trip, our students will have the opportunity to serve others, share the love of Christ, and make a meaningful impact in the lives of the people and communities they visit.

We are asking for your prayers as the team prepares for this mission. Please pray for safe travels, good health, spiritual growth, and that God will work through our students to be a blessing to everyone they encounter.

They are also seeking donations to help cover travel expenses, ministry supplies, and outreach efforts for the trip. Any amount you are able to give would be greatly appreciated and will directly support these students as they answer the call to serve.

If you would like to make a donation or would like more information about the trip, please see the links below. Thank you for your support, encouragement, and prayers as they prepare for this incredible opportunity.

THE GOLDEN RULE

A second-grade teacher asked her class, “Who can quote the golden rule?” “Whoever has the gold,” said Timmy, “makes the rules!” That is the way most individuals understand the rules of life; the belief that power, wealth, or status determines what is right and fair. But does that make things right?
Jesus said, “Do for others what you would like them to do for you. This is a summary of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.” It is not always easy for us to put others in our place and treat them as we wish to be treated. It is easier for us to put ourselves first and expect others to serve us. But how would we want to be spoken to, treated, or cared for? By making empathy the guide for our actions, we choose kindness over convenience, generosity over greed, and humility over pride. This way of living is not always easy but it reflects God’s selfless, unwavering love.
In this verse Jesus teaches that the way you and I wish to be treated must determine the way that we treat others. This is essential for the Christian. If we have been born again, we should love others the way He loves us – with all of our hearts, minds and souls.

Prayer: Father, you set the example for us. We must always put the needs of others first. May we do this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets. Matthew 7:12

Good Morning:

Please enter into urgent prayer for Brother Garrett, who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Ask our Lord to guide and guide the physicians and technicians as they minister his grace to him, asking that God will lead them into the procedures that will bring him healing, so that we may give praise and thanks to our Lord, and tell others of His healing mercy. Pray that those who are involved in all aspects of his treatment will be thoughtful and thorough and use the wisdom and knowledge, and training that He has given to serve this child of God with attention to detail and understanding. Let our Heavenly Father know that we depend on Him for all things, especially His goodness and greatness, as those who administer His grace will serve Him well.

Thank you

CAUSE AND EFFECT

Following a lengthy and dangerous surgery, the doctor took aside the patient’s wife and answered her many questions about his care. “Your husband must have rest to heal,” he told her as he handed her a bottle of pills. “Here are some sleeping pills.” “When do I give them to him?” she asked. “Oh,” said the doctor, “they’re not for him, they’re for you.”
When I am anxious, I cannot bring peace to others.
When I am afraid, I cannot bring comfort to others.
When I am filled with hate, I cannot bring love to others.
When I am worried, I cannot bring joy to others.
When I am discouraged, I cannot bring hope to others.
When I am in doubt, I cannot bring faith to others.
Jesus said, “Come to Me … and learn from Me.”
What fills our hearts determines what flows out to those around us. By turning to Jesus and learning from Him, He transforms our inner condition first. Then, naturally and effectively, we gain the very qualities the world so desperately needs: peace that soothes, comfort that strengthens, love that heals, joy that lifts, hope that endures, and faith that inspires. The effect follows the cause. When we are filled by Him, we overflow to others in ways that truly make a difference.
Prayer: Lord, may I be filled with Your life-giving Spirit so that I may share Your salvation and grace with others. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28-30

SALVATION IS OF THE LORD

“It took me forty years,” said an old man, “to learn three simple things: that I could not do anything to save my soul, that God did not expect me to, and that Christ has done it all.” Salvation is of the Lord. How often do we try to earn our own deliverance through good deeds, moral efforts, or self-improvement, only to find ourselves stuck? Yet the good news is that God has already taken that first, decisive step toward us in boundless love, providing everything necessary for our rescue through His Son.

This seeking Savior pursues us relentlessly, refusing to leave us alone. We cannot ignore Him for He will not abandon the pursuit of our hearts. Salvation is not for us to work for; it is a gift already extended, waiting for our response. We face a clear choice: receive what He freely offers or turn away from it. The Lord longs to grant us all we need for this life and eternity - forgiveness, peace, purpose, and eternal security. It is our move now. What will we do with Jesus?

Step into the freedom He has secured. Lord, thank You for your salvation; draw us to receive it fully and live in its transforming power.

Prayer: Father, I realize that You did it all for me when You sent Jesus to die on the cross and then arose on the third day. Come into my heart now. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Victory comes from you, O LORD. May you bless your people. Psalm 3:8

REACH OUT!

Many years ago, a Georgia farmer had one mule that was particularly stubborn. He would not go anywhere or do anything without a reward. The farmer decided to fasten a pole to the mule’s harness that extended about one foot beyond the mule’s nose. On the end of the pole, he tied an ear of corn – just beyond the mule’s mouth. Excited, the mule began to walk, trying to reach the ear of corn. He was never able to reach it, though he tried and tried.

How unlike our gracious Lord! God does not tempt us with false promises or unattainable rewards. Instead, He reaches out in profound love, sending His Son to bridge the gap sin created between us and Him. And we have His Word that He will not abandon us without wanting to save us. We have the assurance that “Whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved!”

Jesus invites every person, no matter their past or present struggles, to reach out in simple trust. In that moment of calling on Him, we experience the reality of His love: not distant or conditional, but personal, sacrificial, and eternal. Let us respond today. If we reach out to Him, we will realize that He has already reached out to us with His salvation through Jesus Christ, His Son, our Savior.

Prayer: Father, Give us the faith to believe in Your promises that You came to seek and to save us from our sin. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
