“You will die in prison,” said the judge to Lonnie Lundy.
In relating the events, Lonnie said, “There's something about hearing “Mr. Lundy, you will die in prison.” I vaguely caught the sounds of my family sobbing in the background, because I was numb from here to toe, and could not comprehend the word “die.” The year was 1992. I had been convicted of drug conspiracy and money laundering and sentenced to life in prison… even though I was a first-time non-violent offender. I had no criminal history. I was husband to a beautiful wife, father to an adorable three-year-old daughter, and a wonderful 10-week-old son. So how could this be happening to me? After all, I was saved. Please understand why without the possibility to parole in federal prison means death. There is no good time, no getting out for good behavior, and no hope of ever walking out of prison alive. I was sent there to die.”
And for twenty-one years, Lonnie Lundy faced that reality.
But God canceled that sentence and provided for his release, and he now serves as a pastor of Evangelism at Cottage Hill Baptist Church in Mobile, Alabama.
Come hear his thrilling story of God’s plan for his life, how the Lord protected him in prison, and how he served the Lord while incarcerated, as he shares his amazing testimony at the Guido Ministries Legacy Banquet, happening April 22nd at 6 PM in the Worship Center at Guido Gardens. Tickets for the banquet are $25, so please call Lynn at 912-685-2222 to make reservations.
