Evening devotion

LEAD THEM TO THE CROSS

He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.
1 PETER 2:24

As believers, Jesus commissioned us to continue His work on earth—sharing the good news about the salvation He provided for us on the cross (Matthew 28:19). However, obeying this command isn’t always easy, especially when we come across people whose lifestyles are questionable to us. It often feels more reasonable to befriend those who share our values and morals.
Yet understand, Jesus ministered to those whom society avoided. And He explained that He “did not come to call the righteous, but sinners” (Mark 2:17).
Remember, sin enslaves its victims. With despair and confusion as constant companions, the captive doesn’t know the way to freedom. But believers do—and we should share the message of hope with them.
So today, as you come across those who need God’s grace, tenderly point them to the cross. Jesus ministered to the needy, addicted, and downtrodden so they could be freed from sin’s grasp. And because we are His, we should as well.

CLOSER AND DEEPER
Psalm 69:17–18 (NLT) — 17 Don’t hide from your servant; answer me quickly, for I am in deep trouble! 18 Come and redeem me; free me from my enemies.

Do you find yourself with an emptiness in your life that you just cannot seem to fill? Is it as if the life you’re living just isn’t enough? That is the Lord calling you to Himself—to a deeper, more meaningful level of relationship with Him.
I have often, in such instances, found myself praying, “God, draw me closer to You. I know You are all I need.” Because only He can truly satisfy. Intimacy with the Lord is the only answer to our most profound needs. And we must come to a place of abiding in Him without wavering and without any obstacle to the flow of His Spirit into our lives. When we reach that place of deep intimacy with the Lord, we experience the joy, peace, and overflowing sense of love that we long for. Nothing on earth can equal it.
You will either move to the next level with the Lord, or you will continue to feel the emptiness—because nothing can fill it as He can. So allow Him to draw you closer. Relinquish whatever is standing in the way, and allow Him to satisfy your soul.

Tomorrow’s message

08/13/2023

In my life, I have learned that there are blessings behind every struggle. There is pain with every change. There are dreams that turn into unanswered prayers.
There is sunshine after each storm.
There is always a season for everything and a breakthrough in every heartbreak.

Tough Love

Hebrews 12:7 (NLT): As you endure this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as his own children. Who ever heard of a child who is never disciplined by its father?

It’s a fundamental truth, not a throwaway cliché, that God loves you too much to leave you as you are. He will therefore work in your life and in your heart to make you more like Christ.
Don’t misunderstand God’s discipline in your life. It is not spiritual warfare and an attack from the enemy. It is not a sign that God does not love you or has abandoned you. It is instead an indication that God loves you deeply and is determined that you experience His very best.
The word chastening reflects this truth. The Greek means “correction, discipline, training, and nurturing, with the goal of improving one’s character.” Just as our human parents corrected us because they loved us, our heavenly Father will reprove and discipline us because He loves us. When He sees us straying from His path, He will not sit by idly and watch. When He sees us falling into sin, He will not ignore it. When He sees us getting lazy in our devotion, He will allow us to suffer the consequences. He will love us with persistent and transforming love. That’s what a loving Parent does. He will bring to bear on our lives whatever is needed so our lives become like Christ’s and bring honor to Him.

The Perfect Word of God

Scripture: Psalm 19:7 (NIV)
"The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple."

In Psalm 19, David beautifully describes the magnificence of God's creation and His perfect law. In verse 7, he specifically highlights the flawless nature of God's law and its profound impact on our lives. Let us take a moment to reflect on the significance of this verse and the relevance it holds for us today.

David proclaims that the law of the Lord is perfect. Unlike any human legislation or moral code, God's law is faultless and complete in every way. It is divinely inspired and encompasses all wisdom and knowledge. God's law guides us, instructs us, and provides us with a moral compass in a world where confusion and chaos often prevail. It is not burdensome, but rather refreshing to our souls. When we align our lives with God's law, we experience true joy and peace that surpasses all understanding.

Evening Devotion

June 26

John 14:1 says, “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.” In this verse, Jesus offers words of comfort and encouragement to His disciples. He acknowledges their troubled hearts and presents them with a powerful remedy: belief in God and belief in Him.

In times of uncertainty or distress, it’s easy for our hearts to become troubled. We may be overwhelmed by challenges, worries, or fear of the unknown. However, Jesus invites us to place our trust in God and in Him. He assures us that He is worthy of our belief and that He is intimately connected to the Father.

When we believe in God, we acknowledge His sovereignty, power, and love. We recognize that He is in control, even when circumstances seem chaotic. Trusting in God brings us peace, knowing that He is working all things together for our good.

Evening Devotions

Friday June 23

Philippians 3:14 (NLT): I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

Let us heed the words of Philippians 3:14 as a call to action. May we press forward with unwavering faith, determined to live in alignment with God’s purposes for our lives. Let us cast aside anything that hinders us, fix our gaze on Jesus, and embrace the joyous journey of growing closer to Him each day. In doing so, we will not only experience the fulfillment of our heavenly goal but also inspire others to do the same.
