Southside Community Center + Running = combined passions!
First, what is the Southside Community Center and what are they up to in one of the most desperate zip codes in the United States?
Simply put, they are making a difference in the lives of the 61605 residents. Helping single moms to flourish, housing a pregnancy resource center leadership development to create peace and healing through performing arts, dinner church, i urban form, and youth mentoring are a few ways they are making a real important impact.
Second, the Steamboat Classic, a road race right here in Peoria, IL will have its 50th annual race on Saturday June 15th. This will be my first time entering this 4-mile race and I would love for you to enter it with me. Don't worry, you don't have to actually lace up and run, but would you consider entering the race with me by joining in support of SCC.
It would be simple for you to just support through a stated amount, though as an aging 47-year-old runner, l invite you to join me in the challenge to run under 6 min pace for the 4 miles race.
This would be a total of 24 mins of going all out, not just for the joy of running, but for the joy oi supporting the SCC do what they do in Peoria.
A breakdown of the plan:
Pace per mile:
A) 5:50 - 5:54 per mile / $500
B) 5:55 - 5:59 per mile / $400
C) 6:00 - 6:04 per mile / $300
D) 6:05 - 6:09 per mile / $200
E) 6:10 - 6:14 per mile / $100
F) 6:15 or slower (a.k.a the struggle bus) / $50
Example:
If you support at level A, but I only run B, only B is due.
If you support at E and I run A, only E is due.
If you would like to support just reply in the comments with A. B. C. D. E. or F.
Obviously, support will be collected only after the race and the pace per mile is known.
To combine two passions of mine on Father's Day Weekend with your support would mean the world to me and SCC!!!
