SCS 5th graders making oobleck as they study states/properties of matter. Oobleck is a fun, messy mixture made of cornstarch and water that acts like both a solid and a liquid, so students have to argue (with evidence) whether they think it’s solid or liquid!

The cafeteria was packed tonight for our first Men’s Club meeting! Over 250 men joined us for steak night! SCS is blessed with an active men’s club made up of men from several generations.

Tonight, the American Heart Association honored Arnaldo Bustillo for saving a man’s life who was experiencing a cardiac event a few weeks ago. Arnaldo started CPR and used an AED machine to revive the man until EMS was able to get to him. Thank you to the men’s club for purchasing a number of AED machines around campus.

At a school Mass today, Archbishop Checchio blessed images of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. At the end of Mass, one father from each classroom processed with the picture of the Sacred Heart to the classroom with their child. After Archbishop Checchio led the school in the prayer for Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus over the intercom in school, the fathers enthroned images of the Sacred Heart in each classroom. May Jesus always reign in our school and in each of our hearts!

After the consecration and enthronement, Archbishop Checchio visited some of the second grade classrooms. He spoke to them about the importance of preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and First Communion which they will celebrate this year. The second graders also showed the Archbishop pictures of their prayer altars that they made at home.

In honor of his visit, the Archbishop gave the students an extra holiday from school if they all did their homework (tell their parents thank you for sending them to Catholic School). The students can't wait for him to come back again!

Thank you Ann Stevens, Donna Hummel, Tina D'Antoni, John Hummel, Bill Brundige, Sr. Maria Caeli, Keri Murphy, Jan Carroll, Nicole Surcouf and Mrs. LaFleur for making this special day happen! Thank you to all of the fathers who were present for this special moment. It was a powerful image of the fathers bringing the image of Jesus to each classroom. Thank you to Loupe Photography for capturing these pictures!

Back to School Bash 2026! After several years off after Covid, the B2SB was back. This year, it was hosted on campus and featured food trucks and music from DJ Veuve. It was a laid back way for parents to socialize with each other as we begin a new school year. Thank you to the coop and men’s club for putting this on. Thank you to Fleur de Lis Rentals for donating the tables for the event.
