We love our friends at SCLC New Orleans and enjoy every chance we have to come together in a culture and community of Christ.

So far this year, we've gathered to discuss the dangers and warning signs of human trafficking and how we can help prevent continued violence as well as marching together in memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Most recently, we hosted a genealogy workshop focused on gathering Black family history and stories. There is more that unites us than divides us.

This morning, President Hall and President Solouki joined with government and Church leaders to celebrate the arrival of a special donation - 40,000 pounds of food for our community! This is 1 of 250 deliveries being made across the country to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Next weekend, the youth will work together to pack boxes of food for senior citizens facing food insecurity. What an incredible opportunity to serve as the Savior would!

Today, something remarkable happened in New Orleans.

A truckload of more than 40,000 pounds of food arrived at Second Harvest Food Bank, donated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as part of the America250 America Gives initiative. This is one of 250 deliveries happening in all 50 states, and we are deeply grateful that South Louisiana is among the communities this effort is reaching.

1 in 5 children in South Louisiana experiences hunger. Donations like this one move through our entire network, reaching food pantries and meal programs across our region and helping families bring meals home. That is what partnership looks like in action.
