🇺🇸 This Labor Day, we give thanks for the dignity of work and for all who labor in service of their families, communities, and the common good.

Let us pray especially for those who are unemployed, underemployed, or struggling to meet their basic needs. May we be “builders of communion,” working together so that the dignity and gifts of every person are honored and that all may have the opportunity to flourish.

May God bless all workers and their families, and guide us in building a world where every person is valued and every life is treated with dignity.

A long-overdue social media welcome to two incredible leaders in our community! ✝️

Though many of you have already experienced their warmth in person, we want to take a moment to officially celebrate our Parochial Vicar, Fr. Jeff Merritt, and our Seminarian for the year, Peter Vale.

The Lord has richly blessed our parish through their presence. Fr. Jeff and Peter serve as true beacons of Christ’s light, bringing joyful hearts and dynamic leadership to every aspect of parish life. We are especially grateful for the creative ways they are reaching our community, including the launch of our Road to Rome podcast. 🎙️🌟

We are so grateful for their faithful hearts for service, and we give thanks to God for bringing them to our parish. Please join us in keeping Fr. Jeff and Peter in your prayers as they continue to shepherd and serve our faith community.

This morning, Saturday, August 29, our St. Clement of Rome Faith Formation leaders attended the annual PCL/DRE Convocation hosted by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans Department of Catholic Education and Faith Formation! ✝️✨

The day began with Holy Mass celebrated by Archbishop Checchio. Following Mass, Fr. Jared Rodrigue (Episcopal Vicar for Evangelization and Communications) shared the Archbishop’s vision for evangelization by offering valuable guidance as we continue our parish mission of proclaiming Jesus.

Today marks 21 years since Hurricane Katrina made landfall in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast region and the season of displacement, damage, and despair that followed.

Loving and faithful God, you are Lord of all times and seasons.

You heard our cries for help during our time of storm and you never left our side, even in the darkest moments. We thank you for the ways that you have been with your sons and daughters of all faiths and walks of life through these past 21 years as we have rebuilt our community following Hurricane Katrina.

Bless all the first responders, generous souls, and countless volunteers who gave of themselves to rescue the abandoned and then restore and rebuild the Gulf Coast.

Jesus Christ, Divine Healer, heal the wounds of all who experienced trauma, loss of property, and the pains we cannot see, but are still felt. May all who lost their lives because of the storm and floods rest in your loving embrace and endless peace.

Draw us ever closer to Your Sacred Heart and help us to continue to rise with You.

Holy Spirit, may your fruit of gentleness be on our minds, lips, and hearts today.
Grant us Your wisdom and seek to be one in You.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to help us.

Happy Feast of St. Louis, King of France! 👑🙏

Today is a special day for us, as St. Louis is the patron saint of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans and of our beloved St. Louis Cathedral - Cathedral-Basilica of St. Louis King of France.

St. Louis was a man who sought to lead his people as a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. His life reminds us that true leadership is rooted in faith, humility, justice, and service.

May we, too, seek to lead those entrusted to our care with the Gospel as our guide, always striving to serve others with love and to grow closer to Christ.

St. Louis, King of France, pray for us! ✝️
