Food and the Word…a great way to spend the evening!

2.5 months ago, Church on the Hill Mesquite stopped doing church the way we always had. Here's what the numbers say happened next.

We didn't add a program. We didn't launch a campaign. We changed the model, moving from one church gathering in one building to a network of house churches across our city. Then, we got out of the way.

The results:
📈 +46% weekly attendance in ten weeks. Yes, forty-six percent increase gathered in 7 house churches with people that will probably never come in our campus doors. (Bigger crowds do not equate healthy discipleship, spiritual growth, involvement, or authentic faith.)
🤝 About 800% more mission activity. Our people aren't watching ministry happen. They're doing it.
🙌 Around 50% of attendees involved in direct, hands-on ministry every month. (Real discipleship...the hard stuff!)
🏠 7 house churches planted, and 5 are too full.
💵 Finances are improving. We're paying down debt, and benevolent giving is up for the first time since COVID.

The result we can't stop talking about doesn't show up on a chart: the conversations have changed. People aren't asking what time service starts. They're asking how to follow Jesus more closely, how to disciple their neighbor, how to lead. More people are growing in their faith than we've ever seen.

Something else: EVERY house church pastor has said they are amazed at how well they are getting to know people that some of them have been "in church" with, in "Bible study" with, and "sat next to" for decades. House church cultivates real relationships and discipleship.

We now need 5 more apprentice house church pastors to begin training. The next cohort starts in August.

Another result is that the house church pastors are doing real pastoral ministry. They are seeing "Pastor" in front of their name on printed programs; they are being called "Pastor" by those that come to the church in their home. The mantle placed on them is even more evident than ever.

Here's what we learned. Pastors, the breakthrough is on the other side of letting go. Nothing changed until our leadership, the pastors and elders and all of us, decided to lead toward change.

Let's be honest about what really keeps most pastors from making this move: fear about finances and the worry of losing your job. That fear is understandable, but it's worth asking a hard question, "What if your fear of losing your salary is one of the things holding your church back from real growth and discipleship?"

What an amazing day at Illumination Station VBS!

We played games, made crafts, enjoyed tasty snacks, and learned about God's Perfect, Promised, Powerful, and Proven plan of forgiveness through His Son, Jesus.

This year, we shortened VBS to one day so we can take the mission on the road and share the Good News in other communities.

Next stop: East Texas!

We cannot wait to see hearts transformed and memories made as we continue sharing the light of Jesus. Thank you to everyone who made today so special!

🌱 We don't want to grow bigger. We want to grow MORE.

Most churches measure success by how many seats they can fill. We measure success by how many new churches we can plant.

Disciples make disciples.
Leaders raise up new leaders.
House churches plant new house churches.

This is multiplication. This is the Great Commission. This is how the gospel spread in the first century and it's how it spreads today.

"And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses, entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others." (2 Timothy 2:2)
