JESUS predicted His crucifixion & resurrection, but now HE’s giving a prophecy about future events.

This Bible study gives an overview on prophecy, JESUS fulfilment of prophecy, the church age, rapture, the 7-year tribulation, “The Day of the LORD”, the 2nd coming of JESUS, and the Millennial Reign. That’s a lot to cover in one sermon.

To help bring clarity to this text, answer these ‘personal application questions.’

1. JESUS says in Matthew 24:14 that the gospel must be preached “in the whole world”.
• What part can you play right now to fulfill this calling?

2. JESUS spoke of the “days of NOAH” (see Gen 6).
• How are our own times similar?
• How are they different?
• How should we respond to these difficult times?

JESUS says what He means, and means what He says. It all boils down to this one question:
“Are we watching?”

If you are a ‘follower of Christ’, then you are being called to – ‘Remember what GOD has done – with anticipation.’

* Unbelieving scoffers don’t take things seriously (v.3-7)
* GOD’s time is not my time (v.8).
* GOD has a reason for waiting (v.9).

To help bring clarity to this text, answer these ‘personal application questions.’

1. Peter says he writes to “stir up your sincere mind by way of reminder.” (v.1)
· What spiritual truth have I known for years, but I’ve allowed it to ‘fade’… and I need to ‘stir up’ again?

· What helps me keep my heart ‘awake and alert’ instead of ‘spiritually drowsy?’

2. Peter says God delays because He is “not willing that any should perish.” (v.9)
· Who in my life might God be giving more time to turn to Him?

3. Anticipation always changes behavior.
· What one step can I take this week to live with greater readiness?

Previously PETER has identified that there are such things as “False Prophets & False Teachers”. Now he goes deeper into explaining – “who they are, what they do, and what the results of their actions.”

To help bring clarity to this text, answer these ‘personal application questions.’

1. False teachers distort Scripture.
• How do I discern between confident spiritual leadership and arrogant, reckless teaching?
• What red flags have I learned to watch for? (see today’s text)

2. How do I guard my heart from becoming spiritually numb?
• What practices keep my heart soft toward GOD?

3. What helps me resist the temptation to go backward?
• Who helps me stay accountable?

Mother’s Day was designated in 1914 as a national holiday, but quickly became commercialized. People forgot the simple call in the 5th Commandment with a promise: “Honor your father and your mother, that you days may be long on the earth…”

This Bible study clarifies the definition of ‘honor’; who is to receive our honor; what are the benefits of honor; and what you can do to honor someone today.

4. Is there someone I’ve overlooked, dismissed, or taken for granted whom I need to honor?

Peter outlines 7-character traits of growth & development for the believer: after starting with our faith, it is ‘one step building upon the other.’
(Four traits having to do with the ‘inner man’, and Three traits focusing on ‘how we treat other people’), followed by results of following GOD’s pathway for spiritual growth.

How do we apply His Word? Start by answering these questions for yourself:

1. The Bible says to, “Be all the more diligent…”
• What are some benefits of being a ‘proactive’ follower of JESUS? (versus – ‘reactive’).

2. Which of the 7-character traits are evident in your life right now?
• In what areas would you personally like to see more active growth?
• What are you going to proactively do about it?

After an introduction to the book, this Bible study focuses on the opportunities that are there for believers to have an abundant and Christ-like life.

Since GOD has given us everything we need, “Am I living the abundant & Christ-like life that GOD has in mind?” If not, why not?

Peter’s 1st point is: Trust GOD and His promises.

The first application question is:
1. GOD’s Word is filled with promises. After doing some of your own research,
* What specific promise of God do you need to “carry with you” into a situation you’re facing this week?

The second application question is:
2. Are you a born-again Christian?
* If yes, when did you make this decision?
* If no, what is stopping you from becoming a ‘follower of JESUS’?

The third application question is:
3. What is one desire you need to bring into the light instead of hiding or excusing?

The Resurrection of JESUS CHRIST includes some directives for us today:
#1. “GO”…. GO where the people are.
#2. “TELL” – them that JESUS is Alive.
#3. “TEACH” – “Make Disciples”. Invest the Time.

The question is: Will you?

For 3-years the disciples were not to reveal to anyone that JESUS is the Messiah, but “today’s the day”. It’s the unveiling. “Palm Sunday” is not a victory parade; It’s not a coronation. But it’s an introduction to the REAL reason why JESUS came to earth. He was bringing salvation to the world. Yes, even you.

GOD has given each of us gifts, talents, and abilities – to be used for His glory. This Bible study reminds us that GOD’s call is for all of us, and that HE has specific people in mind that we are to share this Good News. HE will supply everything we need to fulfill His calling.

GOD explains that there are specific objectives in the believer – as we go through suffering. We might understand the purpose of suffering – theologically – but we need to grasp the purposes from GOD’s point of view.

This Bible study points out five unique objectives. GOD says – “there should be no surprise”, and they will bring maturity and strength of character.
